This is a little late....but WCK, I'm taking Scosglen's entire post, liming the hell out of it, tying it to a hypothetical brick and throwing it through your hypothetical window.
Also: Mr. Bacons, I think the corner of her mouth looks a bit odd, and I feel the head's a little too small. Purty colors though!
I think this is the best critique I've ever heard.
I'll agree, there doesn't seem to be a lot of weight on the forelimbs. Neat idea, but I'd try to rework some areas. Maybe a 3/4 view, not a profile would make it breathe more life too.
Yeah, I'm not feeling it - looks more like a stitched-together chimera than a real monstrous creature. But I like where it's going! I want to see more.
I went back and inked this piece by hand, but I'm not a huge fan of how it turned out. The paper texture is too prominent and ugly, and the angle on the lance is too tangent-y with the horns, and blech all sorts of problems. Next time I'll use smoother paper, and spend more time on the sketch.
edit: also, another watercolour, but I'm not particularly happy with how this one turned out either.
there's some confusion here
the thing kochikens is talking about, or should be talking about, is on the last page
rather than the elephant monster I did in 10 minutes
edit: which I will also do again because I am entirely unsatisfied with it
I should have had a sketchbook with me at the Denver Museum where they had a Thai exhibit that had some elephant monsters in it
yeah im talking about ~the boys~
I didnt even see the elephant monster my eyes just glazed over and imprinted dudes kissin dudes on the back of my eyelids
also your watercolors are gorgeous tynic, teach me to watercolor like you.
also, here's a 30 minute airship sketch.
so many airships are shown as either big wooden ships taking flight, and I wanted to play around with the general idea of it being more of a submarine-ish ship that flies.
Nice idea bel. The lightness along the riveting is something I like.
The windows, however, look like parachutes that are stuck to the side of the ship or held in a cup, in the case of the crow's nest. The rendering suggest that they bulge like bubbles out of the ship. Er, also, on the pointy end looks like it's been crunched up (like a giant hand grabbed and squeezed it on the sides).
yeah, I was looking at the windows after I slapped some color on, and also at how kinda... mushy the metal looks at the front, and if I do more of this kinda stuff again, I'd pay closer attention to the structure.
Might want to adjust the leg proportions on that, Aumni. The base of the crotch generally comes roughly halfway between the top of the head and the bottom of the feet, so as you have it now you're going to wind up with some long gams.
Update on this- in retrospect I really should have worked out how the composition was going to work beforehand, rather than trying slop in a background after doing the figure work. Trying to half-ass composition while trying to ripoff Mucha both misses the point and more importantly, doesn't work.
Thanks AoB! That's exactly what I needed an extra set of eyes for. I love that you have all those proportions memorized. And that means I need to learn them...again

Love it. The whole thing has a Mucha feel. Was that intentional?
Guy I'm working on for my *NERD ALERT* Mutants and Masterminds campaign */NERD ALERT*
Urantia, I like that drawing of your mom. You gave a texture to her hair that is difficult for some, so kudos.

This post was originally going to be a homophobic edit of them as hot chicks or watching monster trucks but it was a really lame joke.
I'll do it again later
but im not going to be mad if you do it again

Maybe some of us just don't have butts. ITS GENETICS.
(My grandfather actually had the nickname 'Buttless Bill')

thanks for the crits :^:
Urantia that is an absolute beautiful drawing of your mother.
Working on some turn-around shots of the model, still tweaking:

If its any consolation i think the layout/comp is pretty good
This isn't how I imagined the new Elder Scrolls game at all.
There's something about the eye on the viewer's left that makes this hard to read.
I need to come back to it tomorrow with fresh eyes, fix up a bunch of things which are throwing off the structure.
some wips
