why dont we have this stuff yet
The achilles heel of all current human technology is a safe, light, high-capacity, high-output power source. Battery tech is basically pathetic. That's not to say it's not advanced, it's advanced and we've fought some hard-won battles to get where we are today, but from an applications perspective, it's wretched. Holding back everything.
Despite what the Wiki article says we've finally got this shit up and running without a battery that weighs like eighty pounds as of a few months ago
Fuck if I know how it works, though
That's not actually power armor is it? It looks like a nice HUD and computer integration with your weapon and stuff but no strength augmentation. We've basically cheated those power consumption problems with miniaturization until a small battery was good enough.

There are a total of 6 Replicants. One female dies when the shuttle crashes (?), leaving 5. Only four die in the film: Pris, Leon, Roy and the other chick. Where's the last one?

I think they're trying to re-launch it as the "Ground Soldier Ensemble" or something like that. I think the main idea was to try to lighten it up so it could actually be like, useful.
They are developing power armor last I heard. Basically stuff to enhance movement and strength and so on. But power consumption and size of the control units are still a problem. Plus the vulnerability and weight of the units themselves.

It's been quite a while since I've seen it so my memory is fuzzy, but is it the one that dies at the very beginning because he fails the test? I forget his name so you may have counted him already or he may not be part of that group.
Edit: Yeah that's Leon. Dunno then.

It's been too long for me to remember this shit. Alls I remember is it was awesome, Rutger Hauer was a quality badass, and Edward James Olmos was the coolest chinese mexican ever.

If there was enough power, who cares if the unit weighs 300 pounds? It could hold its self up.

Damage the power supply or the control system and all the sudden you are bogged down with 300 pounds. Which is why you try to make as light as possible with redundancy. Also you want to increase the armor but not lose the mobility of the soldier.

People that I know in 4th BDE 2nd ID said it was pretty shitty when they deployed with in in 07.
So does anyone know what's up with my drive screws?
I unscrewed the old drive, started screwing in the new drive and... the screws just never tighten. I can screw it in and screw and screw and they never tighten.
the people on are you smarter than a 5th grader are fucking idiots
all those questions are easy
Of course they are. They're for 5th graders.
there was one about the fire triangle
fire needs fuel, heat and what
the person didn't know!!! what the fuckkkkkkkk
It's actually a fire tetrahedron or something, because a fire needs fuel, heat, air and a chemical reaction. There are fire-fighting methods that interrupt the chain reaction without doing anything about the heat, the fuel, or the O2.

-edit-
Also some of the scariest fires are class delta, combustible metal fires, in most cases water does nothing, or even accelerates the fire, and some of them produce their own O2.
The recommended naval method of fighting a class delta fire? Jettison the burning material overboard.
Yeah I probably should just sleep the next two days straight to catch up from PAX or something. It was an amazingly fun time and it has left me quite exhausted.

Magnesium fires are an incredible thing to see. As a chemistry project, I decided to see what would happen if a magnesium fire was ignited in solid CO2. So I got a block of dry ice, carved it out, and filled it with magnesium filings, then lit it with a blow torch.
Hehehe, partially melted a stone lab bench.

I was hoping that was going to be an awesome FPS based in something like the starship trooper universe.
You disgust me.

And yeah there were people that I knew were awesome like you and Quizzy and Preach
But like Mazzy was the best roommate or at least didn't show any signs that I was annoying the fuck out of him so that's impressive.
And Infidel was also super cool in real life and I didn't know what to expect from him.
So was amateurhour
The list goes on, but thanks, I had a blast! I was worried that a couple of the nights I got too drunk and may have become annoying at some point.
Naw man I'm a rich, sexy, smooth baritone.

Lot goes into the armor design.

My event probably involved less Pocky.

It was an exhausting weekend, probably the most action-packed PAX weekend I've had so far (barring Saturday when I was sick).
I definitely got to know the D&D folks a lot better this time around than last time.
But it didn't have to, Gim.
It didn't have to.

Guess what you can't do on a submarine?
*shudder*
I'm not even sure where I would go to get Pocky around here.
Wait, that's not true. There is a Japanese supermarket about 20 minutes away.
I took the road more traveled by and this, this has made all the difference.
