Oh, it does in Germany. But the Germans in general have a weird habit of going "Oh no everybody hates us because WW2/The jews!" while, in fact, few people today still care.
What I'm saying is a more relaxed view of our past might be in order.
all my expat friends and I make tonnes of nazi jokes whenever we get together, mostly to get it out of our system.
I got glared at for yelling 'lebensraum' in a nightclub on the weekend. Sometimes I forget where I am.

I have a fantastic relationship with my parents, they're both very loving and supportive, and while my father is more conservative in some ways we often have similar views, and they're both very open minded, and they're actually both Atheists.
Now, my parents' relationship with one another....

my mom once said to me "i feel sorry for muslims that aren't crazy. the ones who are just regular people with a religion. that's gotta suck, to be those people."
my mom once said to me "i feel sorry for muslims that aren't crazy. the ones who are just regular people with a religion. that's gotta suck, to be those people."
not sure how i feel about that statement
So your mom feels sorry for like 99% of all Muslims then?
Saying someone 'raped you' with a bad movie or whatever is just tacky as fuck, not triggering
I don't believe in 'forbidden' words but the more fucked up the joke is the more funny it better end up being to make up for it
it is almost as if language evolves and words take on new connotations
That would be gay.
And retarded.
Bu
But I wasn't talking about either of those words
and don't think rape should be compared to those words
Why?
Rape does not deserve some pedestal or padded room all by itself. It's a word. It conveys a message. Sometimes those messages change and evolve over time. Deal with how language works you pile of sticks.
when i had a stroke, it was p much the worst experience in my entire life and it's fucked me up permanently and continues to be a serious impediment to my life
i'm p much mentally disabled now. it's not noticeable most of the time, but when it's noticeable, it is very noticeable
a couple days after it happened, i got out of the hospital and went home. i had one functioning eye, and one functioning hand
i posted on the forums about it, made a thread
Tube proceeded to lay into me with a stream of hilarious stroke-related puns
i appreciated this and laughed about it with the side of my face that worked

I'd take it as benign.
Crazy Muslims make the news.
Non-crazy Muslims suffer because of it.
It sounds a bit like she's implying they are the minority but the message is positive.

that's uh
not cool

Saw it! When I was 13! It was good! And insanely fucked up!
Ditto.
In school, history class "Look! These are the Nazis! Look how good we were to beat them!"
I was so bored of World War II.
And the Tudors.
Argh! I'd blocked out the Tudors.
man, we've only had 500 years of history here and the hero worship was already ridiculous
I can't imagine
It's actually basically Henry VIII and World War II, and Henry VIII isn't exactly a heroic figure. Britain doesn't actually have a lot of focus on the whole "these great men made our country great" kind of thing, not like the Americans do.
Most people today couldn't tell you who was the monarch before our current Queen.
"So there we have the Romans. They were pretty cool."
And then they just start alternating between the French Revolution ("Democracy fuck yea") and Nazis ("Boo!"). Not even the interesting stuff like important battles.
And then, during the last year of highschool or so, you get a bit about the GDR. But only a tiny little bit.
By the time you're finished with school you pretty much can not take the topic of WW2 seriously any more.

I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.
a friend of mine posted this asinine video criticizing classism and stuff and was showing crude graphs of how the people in the upper classes are largely white, male, and straight
and how that's bad
and i'm with them thus far
but then they're like "also the people who are in the upper classes that run corporations and things are not the disabled"
and i'm like
listen
uh
there's some pretty clear reasons for that
do you expect a guy with Down's to be running a company on the NASDAQ?

I didn't really draw them being inferred as the minority from that quote, but I obviously can't say since I haven't heard her talk about it. But, to be fair, sane Muslims are presented as the minority in a lot of media, so it's sort of a common if unfortunate mis-perception.

when my grandparents needed a caretaker late in their life, we found the largest and most outgoing black woman we could find
my granpa flipped his shit
she also happened to be an absolutely wonderful woman who pretty much worked miracles for them
Of course the classic

The stroke puns were fucking genius hahahaha
some would even say that the english language is being raped
man, we've only had 500 years of history here and the hero worship was already ridiculous
I can't imagine
only 2 movies have ever made me cry
moulin rouge (i was just emotional that day)
and children of men
Make sure you're in a good place, emotionally, before you start, because it will destroy you
I've seen that movie 2 or 3 times and I have to wait at least a year between viewings
It was the last film we watched in the film class I had last semester and all I could do for the next few hours was just kinda sit and stare at a wall
I'd take it as benign.
Crazy Muslims make the news.
Non-crazy Muslims suffer because of it.

it will destroy you
well it's negative insofar as
it sucks
it's an impediment to having the life you probably want
and it screws with your life
one of the things that people who scream "ABLEISM!" and stuff all the time seem to forget is that
actually being disabled is a pretty raw deal
it's not the same thing as being black or gay
because you have a functional limitation that diminishes your capabilities to do things
It's not too bad, its balanced out by feeling bad about some of the stuff we did too.
yeah
i mean it's a benign message but the way she says it's like non-crazy muslims are the minority in her view
that's uh
not cool
haha oh man we had like 3 days of that
the rest was how awesome we were
japanese internment, the tuskegee project, trail of tears were all "And then this happened. MOVING ON!"
and crazy and non-crazy alike are a minority overall in the US.
I might be reading it optimistically though.
God bless America :P

one grandfather fought in WW2. He... dislikes asians to put it kindly. what does my uncle marry? a korean woman.
then on my other side another uncle married a carribian woman who was 20 years older than him. hoo boy did that not go over well.
so I think they will be prepared for whatever I end up doing.
how bad can it be
i wonder if it's on netflix (canada)
also pony i have heard the 'make up your mind!' thing before in regards to bisexuals and it is probably the dumbest thing i have ever heard
i didn't even know bisexuals existed until grade 11ish
you don't really hear much about them
i always say i'm bisexual but not biemotional
it's so easy to confuse people
now i am just a bombsosexual
which is way more fun to type
don't you forget it
How bad can it be?
I'll say "Girl in red coat", even though movie is in black and white.
After you see the movie, that phrase will make you cry.
