I don't think there's any possible outcome of game 7 that would surprise me at this point. Canucks blowout, Hawks blowout, scoreless game going into triple-OT, Luongo getting rolled onto the ice strapped to a gurney in a Hannibal Lecter mask, whatever.
The thing is, I would obviously watch game 7 if the series had gone back and forth, but since Chicago has won three in a row...if the Canucks choke completely I'm probably going to shoot myself

No Gun violence, and i for one will be happy if the Canucks blow it. I want the Hawks to win and i still hope the B's don't choke the next 2 games.
What I am rooting for depends highly on the Sharks/Kings game tonight. I want either the Sharks and Canucks to both blow it because the best matchup for Detroit is Chicago, by a large margin OR neither to blow it because the worst matchup for the Wings is the Preds.

Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.
Ug, so I wasn't able to watch the game yesterday too closely. AV played Alberts over Ballard? What the hell is that, Ballard is a good player if you give him the minutes.

About the only path to the finals I think the Canucks still have is if they advance while the Kings topple the Sharks; gutting it out through a seven game series only to wind up playing the Predators hardly qualifies as a reward for any team.
Not that this is the sort of outcome I'm hoping for in the West, but I do think it'd be kind of hilarious to hear the collective sigh of relief from all the Vancouver fans.
In the past 10yrs the Presidents' Trophy winner has won the Cup 3 times. [...] So really is winning the Presidents' Trophy really all that special when it comes to playoff time?
The thing about the President's Trophy is that since any team's games within its own division constitute slightly less than 1/3rd of its total schedule, it's easiest to win when one team dominates a relatively weak division. This year, the team with the best record in the league came out of Northwest Division; so did the teams with the worst two records (EDM 25-45-12; COL 30-44-8). No other division had more teams finish the regular season with fewer than 40 wins; Calgary was the only other team to break the threshold -- barely -- with 41 wins.
Likewise, last season the Caps were the only team to make it into the playoffs out of the Southeast Division and were also the only team within that division to break the 40 win mark. Again, this was the only conference where that happened that year.
During the '08/'09 season, Anaheim barely squeezed its way into the playoffs, clinching the 8th slot in the West by 2 points to join the league-leading Sharks out of the Pacific. Once again, no division in the NHL had as many teams under the 40 win mark.
Anyway, in this season in particular, I'd have to say that the President's Trophy should never have been taken as predictor for success. The Canucks may have finished with 117 points, but they played the two worst teams in the league six times each, which ought to be like having the league spot you 24 points for free.
$120-140 for a ticket to game 7 in Philly tomorrow. Hmmm. What to do? What to do?
Fuck that. Watch it on TV.
You're going to either spend 120 bucks (plus parking concessions and gas) to high five strangers or you're going to spend that money to have your heart ripped out and feel like you've been kicked in the nuts. Save the money, buy a five dollar pizza and invite friends over.

Dude, I was at Game 6 of the finals last year. Nothing will ever compare. :?

Also, is my signature going to jinx them? Hehe.
With your luck, most likely it will.
Miller cries in my sig. I cry on Tuesday.
You cry everyday, you kill yourself on Tuesday ...
It is good to see that Tampa is impervious to taking penalties.
Thanks for the silver platter, refs.
Yeah you're right the Lightning have skated on by this game, pretty much totally invisible to the refs

Pittsburgh PP - 4
Tampa PP - 3
Yup....totally invisible
Look at the time of the post chief.
After the first period, when the post was written:
Pittsburgh PP - 0
Tampa PP - 2
Ehh whatever. It was a wambulance post.
Letangs interference on Stamkos (aka, Letang being in front of stamkos and not skating fast) was a terrible fucking call.
Especially when Dupuis comes in on the shorthanded attempt and dumps the puck into the corner then 3 seconds later gets knocked the fuck down by D dude on Tampa.
If you are going to call bullshit interference's, you need to make them equal.
I have no problem with the call on Letang, he did stick out his arm. But if you call ticky-tacky shit on one team, you need to at least make it seem impartial.

Not sure who you mean by the Habs, but it isn't Montreal. They haven't won the Cup since 1993, and didn't win the President's Trophy that season. o_O

(Except they still gave up a game to each team)
There were 12 in the opening round last year. We're at 11 thus far.
