Here is a brief overview of some of AC3's features and stuff, via @V Faction via whatever GAF is
The new Assassin is the son of a Native American woman and a British soldier. His calls himself Connor, but his birth name is Ratohnhaké:ton. Born into the Mohawk, he eventually crosses paths with the Assassins in his search for righteousness.
- Connor is quiet and stoic, letting actions speak for words rather than conversing with others. In contrast to Ezio, Connor is a freedom fighter who acts in the name of justice rather than on personal revenge.
- Settings will include Boston, New York and a large countryside. The countryside will be the setting of about 1/3 of the game, and will be the location of many events during the game. The countryside will be about 1.5 times as big as Rome in Brotherhood.
- The protagonist will fight on the American side, with primary allies George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Charles Lee. However, this does not mean that the Americans are the good guys and the British are the bad guys. Templars are everywhere…
- There will be seasons in the game, meaning that the sun will shine during summer and the landscape will be covered in snow during winter.
- Fighting and stealth will be completely re-innovated, with Connor being compared to a “predator”. The player will be able to climb trees and other natural elements, and dual-wielding weapons such as a dagger and a tomahawk is now also an option.
- Animals will be present in the woods, like deer and bears. The player will be able to kill them and pelt their skins, to sell them later with the reformed economic system of the game.
- There will be puzzles similar to The Truth, only they will not be given by Subject 16.
- Desmond will go into the new Animus 3.0 and will find himself going into “significant events”.
- 100% sync in memories returns, though this time you will be rewarded when you complete memories to 100%. Checkpoints will also be introduced to mission replay, meaning you don’t have to replay an entire mission to get that 100% sync.
- The Brotherhood, or Assassins Guild, will return in some form, albeit differently than we have seen before.
There will be no more Mercenaries, Thieves, Courtesans, Romani or other factions, but there will be a replacement for them.
the only time I came close to losing a fight in assbro was when taking on one of those borgia towers
there were so many horses and crossbows knocking me around that it took all my medicine just to get one shot off. Luckily the one shot killed the captain and everybody else immediately stood down
I'm in Sequence Four, and my ass is too poor to buy the crossbow! And I don't know where to look for Leonardo, so I don't have my second blade, so I can't buy the vambraces!
Are the item drops random? I see I need certain items for certain merchants' quests to get special equipment. Is there anything I can do to find these items, aside from punching thieves, robbing the messengers and looting?
I also have much less of a clue what I should be doing. In S4, I am supposed to assassinate Cesare and Rodrigo and presumably rescue Catarina. Should I attempt this now, with my seven squares of health and shitty armor? Or should I burn some towers down, increase my income and pimp my bro?
Brotherhood is not AC3, it's like AC2-II: Eye Stab Boogaloo. Revelations is like AC2-III.
AC3 will be a whole new assassin protagonist in the past. Current rumors are a female ancestor Desmond Miles and/or potentially around or during WW2.
Or
You will play as Desmond's descendent through the Animus and play him. :rotate:
AC3 will be huge. If we are going to have to go through 12 temples in the real world that is gonna be a lot of RL playtime. I actually can't imagine what kind of setting would be good for AC3 so I'm leaning towards it being present day.
I didn't have money problems in Brotherhood. Just take some time really early to go around and for like the 1st half of the game just spend money on renovations. If you do that then you will end up having enough for the crossbow just lying around in between shop purchases that you can use.

Well you're not quite halfway through the game yet and the mission isn't as combat heavy as you'd think. It's a stealth mission so you should be fine.
Burning down Borgia towers where there are primary memories apparently does make those quests easier.

It is not going to be WW2. It will be the French Revolution.
yeah i thought one of the points of ac was to pick settings that almost never show up in video games
ww2 would be about as far from that as possible
Didn't somebody do the math once and figured out that if every scenario from a WW2 game actually took place the war would have lasted for like, 15 years
literally everything that has been said about the protagonist and setting of AC3 is that "It might be neat to do a female protagonist, you don't see many of those" and "we want to use settings that you don't see a lot of in video games"
my bet's on french revolution or victorian era england

When reading the emails between the different future world people I got the feeling that they were thinking about Russian Revolution, American Revolution and some kind of Feudal Japan thing.
Sweet one of my favorite video game series has an SE++ thread
I fully expect Ubisoft to take off at least 2 years if not more from the date Revelations comes out to AC3. They need to give a little bit of time for some sort of speculation and shit
Or they'll just get it to come out right before December 21, 2012 for the whole shits and giggles nonsense of that bit (and Revelations/Brotherhood was just filler until then)
I would be perfectly content if the near-future plot with Desmond didn't exist. On the other hand, that scene in the Revelations trailer with Ezio and Altair was awesome, and I don't know how you would BS that without SCIENCE!
Damn yeah at the end there Desmond goes from "regular schmo" to having violently murdered a whole pile of random security guard lookin dudes in about thirty seconds

"So we're in... the matrix? Of renaissance Italy? And this has present-day implications somehow?"

Then you are just gonna love the ending of AC2 let me tell you. AssBro too.

people blaming Jack the Ripper's murders on you
hmm, that actually would be a neat way to frame/discredit an assassin
as shown in previous assassin's creed games, prostitutes are friends to all assassins
so the templars would murder some and blame an assassin and make him look crazy
you play as secret cosmonaut trainee Akilina Lazarenko and the final mission
is to go to the moon and assassinate Buzz Aldrin before he can set-up the Mind Control Antennae
it was actually all a trap
because the moon landing never happened
it was all just a conspiracy to get you stranded on the moon and out of everyone's hair

Well I dont have any problems with that
Series is fantastic and they keep doing new things with each one so it's all good.
I'm glad it turned out the way it did

it's hard to get over the fact this'll be the last ezio game
