I was doing some counter kills a minute ago, and when I did the thing where you stab one guy and immediately shoot another, only the guy that Ezio chose to shoot was an innocent by stander. I robbed him and dumped his body in the river, so it's all good now.
Yeah I tried that one about 10 times and gave up :-/
There's a glitch I had to use.
After blowing down the gate, go to the marker and when the tanks start coming, slowly back up. Get to where it says something like "Warning: Desynchronization is blah blah balh." Then just set there and shoot the tanks. They'll aim at you, but they'll never fire. Stills works, I did it about an hour ago.

I don't think they can. They've shot me a bunch, but I don't think they can actually damage you. They can shoot the barrels and hurt you, so make sure to destroy those.
I haven't tried it, but I think it would be pretty cool to have guards chasing you, so you run up a wall only to jump off and air assassinate the closest one.
As far as I know you can only air assassinate when standing higher than your target, And to ground assassinate you have to be standing next to him without him noticing you.
So naw I don't think you can.

If you have the camera facing the guard, you can pretty much assassinate them from anywhere. I was just hanging onto a ledge and my target walked under me, and it let me just fall on him and assassinate.
I think I found a bug or a glitch or something. After several tries, I finally killed the one Tower Captain before he could flee. I climbed the tower, and there was no burn it down option. The guy is definitely dead, and the icon on the tower changed to the "burn it now" icon, but I don't have prompt when I get to the top.
So it seems like you get way more points for playing aggressively, like using stuns, as the hunted team in Manhunt, rather than being stealthy.
I'm being all blendy in crowds and using disguises and didn't get spotted once, while another guy on my team has 4x the points, using smoke bombs and charge to stun them all in plain sight.

It's tricky
it's absolutely an important part of a good strategy, but against a good team it can be really hard to play offensively on defense.

but the captain has a damn horse and i can't get him before he escapes
i try to target him with my crossbow and assassins, but i shoot everything but him and then he escapes
again and again and again
I liked the beginning. The only thing that was weird to me was immediately you can do parkour. Like climbing buildings is just what the youth did in Venice.

If I remember correctly you just need to stick to the roofs and the corners. They tend not to look up very often.
And it most definitely makes them go berserk in Assbro.
But I know it's fairly easy if you get the crossbow too.
Shoot a guard, and his buddy standing next to him sits there for a good 5 seconds looking at the arrow so you can plug him too

Because it is slow as hell.
