So wait, if a weapon is flak, it does more damage to flyers than the listed damage? I made the assumption that flak meant it does the listed damage to flyers and less damage to everything else.

I'm basing my assumption on the following things:
1 - One of the rarer machine guns, the razor of the gods is both scrap and flak as abilities. It seems to clean house
2- the Archie is a grenade launcher that takes two slots but has flak as an ability
3- the ripper machine gun, in the description, states something like "while not doing as much damage as other machine guns, it blows pieces of scrap off". The only non-special/unique machine gun available is a heavy flak cannon that does 3.3 damage (to the ripper's 2.5).

Finally got gold on Volcano playing with my brother tonight. He went assault and I went with an engineering chassis and dropped a bunch of sniper emplacements. That seemed to do the trick!
Also, I toyed around with using Razor of the Gods during that level, but was disappointed that it doesn't get the shredder bonus when used on ground enemies. The next few rounds I went back to using my dual ripper setup since I got more scrap that way. In single player it's not exactly advisable, but in co-op it seemed to work well.
Double Fine XBLA game Trenched cannot be released in certain parts of Europe because of an old trademark held by abstract board game Trench, Eurogamer has discovered.
The trademark, filed by Portugese board game designer Rui Alípio Monteiro in 2007, covers both board games and computer games.
Trench, the board game, like Double Fine's Trenched, focuses on military strategy and army ranks and is set in the World War I era.
A trailer on Trench's website features a monochromatic gameplay board, intercut with World War I newsreel footage.
Our sun-kissed colleagues at Eurogamer Portugal contacted creator Monteiro, who confirmed the trademark but had "nothing else to declare". He referred us to the Trench website for anything else we wished to know.
This news could mean a long European delay for Trenched while trademark issues are resolved. Alternatively, Double Fine could re-release the game in Europe under a different name.
Microsoft declined to comment on the story when asked by Eurogamer this morning.
Trenched emerged on schedule in the US last week but failed to appear in Europe. At the time, Microsoft stated the delay was due to "unexpected challenges with distribution".
Eight days on, gamers are still in the dark as to the delay's cause. Earlier rumours of a hampered German release due to the existence of a Nazi salute in the game were hastily quashed by Double Fine on its forum.
Now now, we wouldn't want Double Fine to have to insult themselves.
Oooohhh how I wish I could rock a Timber Wolf/Mad Cat in this game
Clan Wolf. Lawful Asshole 4 life.
Word yo, but just so long as it's a proper Timber Wolf and not a Mechassault abomination.
"The Timberwolf is a variant on the Mad Cat..."
FFFFFFFFFFF It IS a Mad Cat you assholes. Madcat is just what the Inner Sphere called the Timberwolf and it DOESN'T weigh 100 tons. The only one that gets that close is the Mad Cat Mark II and that only weights 90 tons.
Of all the ridiculous roadblocks, my God... I feel for you, my EU pals.
So the Giant Bomb guys have apparently been telling Double Fine how badly they want to see a survival mode, and given how chummy the two seem that can only help our chances!

I'd like Brad Muir to give Trenched the Defense Grid treatment. He likes that game, and every mission has a variety of challenges, extensions and scoring. I was dissapointed Trenched didn't even have points. But not enough to avoid such an awesome experience.
Giant Bomb and Xplay are Double Fine's best friends. Giant Bomb gives every DF downloadable game lots of previews, and Xplay was the only one to compare Brutal Legend to Sacrifice, giving the multiplayer a ton of attention, which is what Schafer wanted all along. The chick was all like "hey, this is like Sacrifice," and my jaw hit the floor.
So Europe needs a new name for the game?
Tube Assualt?
Mechs in the Trench?
Manly Men in Manly Mechs?
Real Man's Land?
Psychonauts: The Early Years?
Brutal Legend: WWI edition?
Man why didn't you guys ever mention this was by Double Fine in the thread title? Don't give two shits about another random XBLA game, took me till the front page post today to find out it was by Double Fine.

The first boss is a pain in the ass. There's an order to getting that boss to come out. Too much of that round is cutscenes though.

Call it My Robot Is Bigger Than Your Robot.
It's Microsoft. I'm not surprised.
Simply making it Entrenched seems easiest to me (unless that is also taken).

They might have been hoping to work something out quickly and quietly without making the other side look like the bad guy from the get go.
The other side are the bad guys here, damnit.

I like the cut of this guy's jib.
Just up the rating to mature for crude humor, and bleep the word trench. Or rerecord all the dialog so instead of trench, they say "shitty board game"
