I've been up and down with my opinion on G+. It's a nice platform and all, and the interface is super slick ... but with Facebook, Twitter and Buzz, I'm just not sure I need or want another social platform I feel compelled to check.
I honestly want it to completely replace facebook for me
it does everything fb does and more and has significantly more robust privacy protections
Oh, sure, I'd love that, absolutely. It's just the idea of ANOTHER platform that bugs me. It's actually more or less taken over the niche demographic that Buzz had covered (namely, ex colleagues and university classmates). Frankly I'd love it if Google did away with Buzz entirely once G+ becomes more established.
after I started adding more SE++ people on Facebook, I started adding people as contacts in Gmail and setting their nickname to their forum handle. helps me when I have brain farts sometimes.
Is it ironic that you can't actually try to sign up for Google+ if you're using a Google Apps account, business or personal, despite the google apps integration
so there's no way to display aliases other than putting them in that part of your profile and expecting those curious to track down the information themselves

Or is it just stupid
Either way
I think their decision to open it to invites only for now is informed by two things:
1) If it is invitation only, they gain a tremendous amount of data from invitation patterns that can be used in their business decisions later
and
2) They don't want fifty million people signing up on day one and reaming the system in a way they haven't had any experience stress testing it in, because if something fucks up in that scenario, then 50 million people will tell their friends G+ doesn't work very well.

The only problem I have is it doesn't seem to want to load the thumbnails for the photos already on my phone, but any new ones it seems to work fine.

on the Android platform using a Droid X
it is slick as fuck
seriously
it is super lightweight, loads really fast, and has a really intuitive interface that controls every aspect of your account
Though to be fair, my co-workers are the best friends that I have, post-college. I just wanted to keep them separate.
The rest of my friends scoff at Twitter let alone G+, so yeah...it'll be a while
