There are several, one a little southwest of downtown, another farther northwest, and probably more but those are the two I've been to. The one southwest on loop 360 as mentioned, is quite spacious. And the method of ordering food at a walk-up line saves people from having to deal with waiters if coming at later times.
fuck, emory quinn is playing. that makes me almost not wanna go deal poker.
This would be cool. Would anyone else want to see a show that night? Maybe we could do dinner then a show later. Not like we'll have a problem finding a concert.
Khoo: I assume you want the closest Rudy's (since it seems we've settled on Rudy's) to the airport.
In that case:
2451 South Capital of Texas Highway, Austin, TX (12.3 miles)
11570 Research Boulevard, Austin, TX 78759-4036 (19.4 miles)
7709 North FM 620, Austin, TX 78726 (25.6 miles)
Rudy's is good (not the best) and cheap, and as others have mentioned: it's conducive to our mission in that it is easy for everyone to pay their own way without having a waitress look down her nose at us when we ask her to split the check.
If you want something closer to the airport, let us know now so we can keep scouting.
If you're wanting something closer to your hotel, you're going to have to tell us where you're staying. See what I did there?:winky:

The only problem I see with Stubbs (other than the fact that we'd be stretching the idea of "20" in regards to their claim on their website that: "To twenty, Stubb’s can accommodate you!") is the live music. If Robert's actually needing to talk to us and get an accurate idea of what we're saying, this could be bad.
I'm all for live music, but I've always found it to be a great hindrance to talking. A show afterwards wouldn't be a bad idea.
I'm also not opposed to the idea of gather at someone's abode or hotel room for general shenanigan's if nothing else interests us and/or is too expensive.
I've only been to Rudy's once and it was good! They're one of the few places I've been to in Texas that can make a really good BBQ sauce. There are BBQ places in Austin that are better overall but they're expensive and would have a difficult time accommodating a group this large since they're always packed.
Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Rudy's is a great choice. Not the best BBQ, but not offensive either.
Unless someone says they need to split a room with me, I'm just going to sleep late Friday morning and then drive back home after our shindig. The car has to be back by noon Saturday anyway.
If I get sleepy, I am an expert at finding hidden coves in which to park to get a couple of hours of shut-eye. Comes from my days of being semi-homeless.
I get off work at six and have to drive all the way south through traffic. Not sure what time we'll actually get there, but hopefully we aren't too late.
If I didn't already have a full house I'd say you could stay at my place too, but yeah. full house
No prob! I really wasn't fishing for an invitation (shocking I know), but I did want anyone else to know that I can make another bed available if the need is there. I'm willing to pay for half a room to help a fellow forumer out, but sleep can be had anywhere if you're tired enough for free.
I'm still going to try to drive home that night so I don't risk getting the car back late. I got an excellent deal on the car as long as I get it back between 11 and noon.
Just went from Maybe to Pretty darn likely. Significant other is coming with. We shall chow on the BBQ and meet people who I've only heard about through lurking.

I think I can afford a hotel, though I could use some tips on where to stay.
Steam
You want someone to pick you up instead?
Microtel is where it's at if you're not picky about star-ratings.
you can stay with me, buddy. unless you're allergic to cats. then you can still stay, but you probably won't like it
Waco? Dude, you could drive back that night. It is an hour tops.

What about 4 hours? Can I drive 4? I'll be sober by the time I get home, so it's all cool.
i probably won't be on tomorrow to wish you well. and be safe!
