Well one of the cool things about Silver Age Spidey was that it wasn't a case of "people like him" or "people hate him" but "some people like him and some people hate him." Doc Conners and his family thought Spidey was a great hero, so did Flash Thompson and John Jameson, but ol' JJ Jameson hated him as did Sam Bullett. Sam Bullett was a nasty racist thug though, who Jameson told to get lost because even though he was a jerk to Spidey he didn't stand for that shit. Which is just another example of how Silver Age Spidey was actually filled with pretty complex characters.
But yeah you would get scenes where Spidey swings away from a street fight with a supervillain and the crowd is all "whatta hero!" "I think he's a freak who should be locked up!" "The Bugle says he's a menace, they wouldn't print it if it wasn't true!" "shows what the hell you know buddy!"
The people could be turned for or against Spidey at the drop of a hat.
He is a Spider-Man. Mans most startling enemy.
Take the forums for example. If you post a picture of a spider then suddenly good forumers will go mad at the sight. Typing furiously on their keyboards "KILL IT WITH FIRE!". No pics and people go about their daily lives not caring about spiders.

Where have Superman's eyes gone in that second-last panel? At first I thought he had tinted glasses but they look clear.
Fashion. The kryptonite of all comic book artists.
Also Sovereign Seven. I cannot remember one thing about either of them now.
Manapul too
Especially Mark Bagley.
Also my favorite style of Spider-Man in Mark Bagley style. Now and forever.

Comixology is having a digital sale where every issue of World War Hulk, WWH Frontline, and Skaar Son of Hulk is 99 cents.
I know the main WWH book is good, but is Frontline worth getting?
