I hope the technician is next on the list to get a load of new gear.
Also, the skins are really nice, but it's pointless to buy them. You never see anybody up close. Everybody is a tiny line in the distance whizzing around. This makes me sad.
Homogeneous distribution of your varieties of amuse-gueule
My guess is a heavy will be next (there's been an update for a light and a medium so far). I can't wait to try out the new raider stuff but nooo I have to go to class. Bah!
Yeah, I think Doombringer needs more love than Tech.

If Doombringer gets a new secondary I just may unlock that class. I've started to unlock it a few times then I remember the Saber Launcher and just kinda go meh. I know how good the Chaingun can be and how useful shields are if used right... But man, that Saber Launcher.
I haven't tried it on human players, but during training i feel it's very op. I don't see why you would want a spinfusor or thumper anymore. The splash damage is only a little smaller than the spinfusor and the damage is only 200 less (500 against 700), but this is offset by the higher fire rate. I have a feeling that it is better than the soldier class in everyway. Edit: Apparently the spinfusor does 910 damage opposed to the 500 of the plasma gun. The splash damage is still only 100-200 less that combined with the higher fire rate it is still better than the spinfusor.

Can someone explain to me how you could farm xp on a private server in a manner you couldn't on a public server? I'm not getting it. What an I missing?

In that case they should be giving class-specific bonuses for doing what you're supposed to be doing, rather than generic bonuses that reward little beyond deathmatching, capping and generator assault.
That's one of my big problems with the scoring system in general. The only roles that are rewarded are hof/db, the guy that plays tdm the whole match, and the guy that is really awesome at capping flags. Anyone else (chasing, defending, repairing or escorting) gets shit for points.
Standing on the flag as a giant buglight killing people with mines and fields (even when you walk away to reload) is shitloads of points.
Chasing down people with your flag and keeping the other team from scoring means you're 10 out of 15. Even if you get 10+ returns in a match.
I am running into more and more Doombringers/Juggernauts that know how to aim with the Chaingun/LMG. This makes me sad, they're the only class I feel like I stand no chance against as a Pathfinder if they can aim. Although, if Raiders are more powerful after this update, that could be problematic. That 21x Air Mails is hurting my feelings, I worked hard for the... 5? 5 blue plates I got that one time.
Also, there is just the one entrance to the base on Raindance, right? I was playing a CTF round once where both teams had taken a flag and both flag carriers were holed up inside their base. It was an incredibly annoying stalemate.

People won't cooperate on a public server. The enemy team won't just sit and let their admin buddy farm up his Thumper XP.

But teams taking turns letting the other team score up medals and kills does give XP.
Winning gives you exp. When you have a private server you could theoretically just connect a bunch of zombies to fill out the slots, let the game sit until it reaches base EXP cap from time before coming back to the PC and capping the flag. Rinse and repeat. Even better if you have a booster, you'd literally be farming EXP at highest possible rates.

The thing is though, is that advantage worth the effort over just joining a regular server? Especially since private servers all cost money? It seems like even if you'd get an advantage there (with idle disconnects and such it seems like it'd take a huge amount of effort) it wouldn't be enough to offset the monetary cost and effort required. Plus, HiRez makes money either way.
edit: And if you're taking turns losing, just take your team to a public server and stomp on the pubbies. That's way more entertaining.
Winning every game as MVP versus relying on your team to even win to begin with, then competing with them all for the spot? Quite a difference. Re: money, people pay money for EXP boosters, this is exactly the same concept except you don't even need to put effort to get the EXP.
[edit] You have a team? That's nice. Most people don't.
Ever since the official release I've throttled down my playtime by like 80% because every time I join a match it's all bronze and silvers. It's fantastic that there is an influx of new people, but I really don't like stomping them.

It's called achievement farming. In games that have achievements that give you experience points, if you get a bunch of friends together on a server, you can set up on opposite teams and then coordinate to take care of certain objectives. Say I want to get the Obsidian badge for destroying base assets, you get on the other team as a technician and I wander over to one of your base turrets. I destroy it, you repair it, then I destroy it again, you repair it, rinse, repeat, ad nauseum.

Are you suggesting getting MVP is easier when you have to take turns with your friends, rather than getting it by stomping pubbies in real games? Because I would have to disagree. Especially if you have a few friends helping you out.
And yes, people pay real money for EXP boosters, which probably has a similar effect. Why not let people enjoy their private servers and put up with a few crazy dedicated people who want to do silly things to farm XP if you're already letting people buy XP? All you're doing is punishing people who legitimately want to play with their friends. The farmer people can still take their dummy accounts and fill up a public server.
Oh man. So how many have seen the plasma gun in action yet? Cause this doesn't look promising. DAT HITBOX
They'll let people plop down their money for a day or two and then nerf it.
That is the worst business practice.

If my experience I just had with the plasma is any kind of indicator the solution when encountering it is to go fast man.
Haven't seen it in CTF yet, but I just played a round of C&H. I love Raindance C&H as a Pathfinder. It's sooo much fun... Oh yeah, anyway there were Raiders running around with them and maybe they were wrecking faces, but I didn't have to many problems with them. I think it's just a new thing and people aren't used to them yet.

Thats pretty depressing. I'm pretty sure they've been constantly tightening up the hitboxes on the spinfusor and thumpers during beta, wonder why the plasma gun should be any different.
I'm really hoping Hirez never makes pay-only weapons. Plasma gun is unlockable with XP I hope?
1. Introduce very strong, game breaking new weapons.
2. Leave them OP long enough that people feel compelled to buy in.
3. Nerf them into line once they fall out of the lime light.

If it is even intentional. Lots of times things are patched into games that subsequently need balancing.
And if people are buying it specifically because it is OP, they are geese, and I really don't care about them. I'd even go so far as to say I am glad HiRez is making money off of them.
But that aside, the weapon does need some balancing.

If they continue to do it, it's intentional. This isn't the first time. If it's not balanced, they shouldn't release it.

Balancing is a very hard thing to do. Sometimes they have to release it to the general public to get good feedback. But I agree,in this case, it is overpowered and should have seen it coming. I getting the feeling they are trying to push the boundary to see what the community is willing to accept.

Someone on the Hi-Rez Forums has a Match with 57 Kills, 55 of them are MA's. Yeah kinda broken.
Seeing awards for that many MA's is odd, but really that weapon seems to work closer to the SMGs/ARs/CG (just with splash) and would realistically get a lot of it's kills on people in the air like those do. So I would think a possible solution to that is treat it like those other guns and don't give MA's. However, that doesn't solve any of the issues that exist with the weapon being too strong.
