    one time I was visiting a casual acquaintance in another city and we got a motel room because her house was being fumigated and somehow that translated into having sex

    it was great because one thing segued smoothly into another with no hesitation or interruptions but to this day I cannot remember how I pulled it off and it has set an unrealistic expectation for all future dates, non-dates, brunches, and casual meetings

    I had sex on the first date with my first 3 long term girlfriends, no other relationships in between.

    Now I'm 3 or 4 girlfriends deep into the "sex on the third date at the earliest" dating style.

    I think sex first makes more sense, if it's just a physical attraction you figure it out before someone gets emotionally attached and the breakup really sucks then.

    If you want to go commercial though it's by far the cheapest good option IMO, but that's a very big if.
