Seen a couple complaints about how snarky some characters are in this, how everyone always has a retort, that sort of thing. But I only really noticed it with Tony - and that's always been a big part of his character, so eh.
That is one heck of an article.
I've never actually watched Firefly, but I find it very troublesome when a person's feminism is so deeply tied to sex-negativity, as it appears to do with that writer.
"Sandra has a good solid anti-murderer vibe. My skin felt very secure and sufficiently attached to my body when I met her. Also my organs." HAIL SATAN
I don't like how he has killed characters in the past just to push the story forward or make the characters react to something.
Hell he even did it when he was brought in to work on Speed, with Jeff Daniels' character!

I appear to be turning into a person who wants everyone to have lots of fun happy healthy sex and also have lots of fun happy healthy endings where everybody hugs except the bad guy
Who eventually finds fun happy healthy sex and hugs, too
Now if you excuse me I am going to go watch The Goonies

the whole concept of Cap seems like the most ridiculous patriotic bullshit until you actually sit down and read some of his comics and then it turns out to be great
the secret is, he's actually not that patriotic? like he's proud of america and he believes in what it stands but he would be the first to admit that the country's got problems and you could have a very reasonable conversation with him on the subject

Hah, just remembered, that thing that got speculated on a while back got no mention;
War Machine. I get his omission, wanna focus on the core group, and that's fine. But why no name drop or a quick "he's off somewhere saving the world some other place" given that he's a freebie extra Iron Man, an extra 'big guy' to fight.
Glad Pepper and Jarvis were in though - Pepper missing Tony's call was actually pretty emotional.

I have become increasingly interested in examining Joss Whedon’s work from a feminist perspective since I had a conversation with another lesbian feminist sister at the International Feminist Summit about whether Joss was a feminist.

I read that article shortly after it was written. It made me want to grab the writer by the throat and scream that is not how feminism works you idiot!
BIG movie spoiler
When Coulson died I sat there thinking "Noooo I can't believe they killed Coul- oh wait it's Joss Whedon yes I can." He's pretty brutal when it comes to character death. The more you like someone, the more likely it is that they're toast.

This was me with Tony at the end. "No. Naw. They're making Iron Man 3, he's fine. But Iron Man's a suit. A suit Rhodey has. They don't need Tony Stark for Iron Man 3. Oh shit. WHEDOOOOOOON"
Gonna miss Coulson, but at least he went out with style! "That's what it does..."
Since Cobie seemed so insignificant, I'm guessing she's the new Coulson, appearing in all the next round of movies.

Well, I wouldn't say he's not PATRIOTIC, just not JINGOISTIC. But I agree with you 100%, Cap's real appeal comes from the fact that he refuses to be a mindless symbol, no matter how much he looks like one.
Hey, remember that time Captain America exposed Nixon's secret plot to take over the country with a flying saucer? Because that happened.
Steve Englehart later said that he self-censored in that story. He wasn't sure that Marvel would let him specifically name Nixon, so didn't try to do so, but then thought afterwards that they probably would have. Interesting stuff, that's for sure.

Big spoiler concern and such
Agent Coulson dying and all. what was that nonsense about the cards then with Nick and Maria Hill? seemed like they were hinting that Coulson might be alive? Anyone else think this?

MOVIE SPOILERS.
More that Fury went and got Coulson's cards, then dipped them in his blood to give them that extra push. Because him dying wasn't enough apparently. Fury is a bit of a dick imo.
That was mostly that Fury had basically used Coulson's death to try and bring the avengers together. The whole thing with the cards was to make them all mad at Loki and work together as a team.
I remember Coulson even saying something to the tune of 'it'll bring them together' when he dies. Basically Fury just manipulates the shit out of people.
Edit: FUCK FUCK FUCK. Wrong button. Sorry everyone. That was stupid.
Okay I looked up the Falcon because I didn't know much about the character
Next, the Skull uses the Cube to rewrite the past and remove the years Wilson had spent angrily living as "Snap". In this new history, Wilson was an upright and cheerful social worker who is eventually lured to the Exiles' island and organizes the natives to fight for their freedom.
Why the fuck would Red Skull make a dude more likely to become a superhero?
“Marvel told me years back this is one movie they didn’t think they could do.
“They were worried it would be a sensory overload having six, seven or eight different, very distinct, characters with their own unique back-story all coming together.
“The fear was that would be too complicated.
“But Marvel Studios boss Kevin Fiege was a big fan of my Avengers books and told me it made him realise an Avengers movie could actually be a lot simpler than he’d thought.
“So they used book one and the ending to book two as the template for the movie, which is enormously flattering.”
Remember guys, if anything remotely comic related is popular, it's because of Mark Millar!
Doing my own movie re-run of the Avengers universe.
It's funny how much more I like Captain America, Thor and Iron Man than all the X-Men and other B-listers put together. Mostly because, while they deal with serious stuff, they seem to enjoy being heroes most of the time, albiet for different reasons. None of this WHY CAN'T I BE NORMAL? Crap.
Rogers is just a nice guy trying to make the world a better place.
Tony is a loveable asshole who loves showing off but secretly cares.
Thor has got the whole noble warrior thing going on and loves a good brawl.
Spider Man is okay, but the films weren't on the same level as the ones I listed above.
Also, did we ever get confirmation on Red Skull being dead in CA? Because although they made it look sort of similar to an Asgard transport, I can't imagine Skull returning in any serious capacity as a villain.
Best action scenes in the lead up films IMO:
Ironman's rampage against the Ten Rings in Golmera and following dogfight.
Captain America kicking down Hydra's front door by himself.
Thor vs. the Frost Giants.

other than Superior, however, if Mark Millar gave up writing forever and his works were retroactively deleted from existence, I'd be entirely happy with that.
except oh yeah remember the part where Bruce Banner bragged about raping She-Hulk to death
yeah that was great
I don't care for Red Son much either, though I accept that others like it
so okay, you have Red Son, Superior and 1985 (which I haven't read but will accept your premise that it is good)
and then against that, you have everything else he has written, a lot of which ended up being really influential and fucked the Ultimate line over for years.

Red Skull's the kind of guy who motivates anyone to want to kick his ass. Even Magneto and Doom hate his guts.
