So, Jane Jensen has announced that she will be announcing another game alongside Moebius at the end of the kickstarter; that the other game has funding from "elsewhere," is something you would expect from her, and is something we will be very excited about, but she cannot talk about until there are some assets to show off.
Gabriel Knight 1 Remake? GK4? One can dream.
Maybe it's a game in the vein of King's Quest VI. Would be cool as well.
She also said it would be a dark mystery; the kind you would expect from her.
that leaves Moebius (which we know almost nothing about) Dante's Equation, Judgement Day, and Gabriel Knight.
And she wouldn't be hush lipped about the name of it unless it was a name that meant something.
Oh that does narrow it down.
Would suuuuck if it's a Dante's Equation adventure.

seriously man I get where you're coming from, I've never been on the Whedon love train, but this isn't him putting his stamp on things. the characters are completely true to themselves and the dialogue is sometimes funny but not, like, in a look-how-clever-I-am way.
also, something the trailers don't show is that the action is such where you can actually tell what is happening. what the trailers don't show is that the shots are actually held for a reasonable length of time and they maintain spatial relationships. it's cool when X happens because you can tell where the participants are and what they're doing and so forth.
Whedon's difficulty writing 'in voice' for his characters has been one of my biggest criticisms of him, and part of the reason I was meh on Astonishing X-Men.
But I have noticed that he has much improved on this over the years.
And I suspect that there was a leash on him from the studio side as well. The only thing I think he struggled with was Thor's voice. Mostly because that pseudo-Elizibethian dialect slipped from time to time. Understandable, it's got to be a bit tricky with that.
Yeah, but even with that they did pretty well. Whedon does have a style of doing dialog but it fit well in the Avengers with the leash they put on him. So you had the characters, in character bantering.
The combat scenes were some of the best done combat scenes in years. They weren't some crazy ass shaky cam bs. They didn't cut from place to place so fast you had no idea what was going on. They had timing to them. They were scenes not effects demos.
@Feral I still loved Whedon's run on Astonishing. It was fun. But it is also because he used Cyclops not as a bitch but as a bad ass. I think with some of the characters he got their voices really well(Emma Frost, Scott, and Wolverine). Some he did fine with and I enjoyed them(Kitty and Beast). Others he sucked balls at like Colossus. But really Astonishing has been on a great run now for a while. I need to finish the last two Ellison runs. I have his first three and they are kind of fun self enclosed stories. I think Ghost Box has a great X-Men story but I didn't care for the art style.
I really want to pick up the X-Men vs. Avengers arch just because Romita Jr. is doing some of the art work. And I want to see Cyclops try to kick Caps ass.
do you know why the X-Men and Avengers are fighting?
because Cyclops has a fuckheaded plan to exploit the returning Phoenix Force in order to revitalize mutants and help his own kind. If his plan goes awry it could kill all life on Earth so the Avengers naturally have a problem with this.
he's basically fully embraced Magneto's philosophy, complete with
All of my knowledge of comics comes from the '94 Fleer Ultra cards, the 90s cartoons, various movies and a handful of more recent cartoons (Spectacular Spider-Man, mostly). And what little I glean from the Graphic Violence threads, with a small amount coming from [chat].
Ehh, working with Magneto is never a pure sign of being a bad guy in the X-Men comics. Especially when it is for the "common good" whatever that means.
I actually like Cyclops being all "Mutant first" but post M-Day and the destruction of Genosha kind of gives him a reason to be that way. Of course anyone using the Phoenix Force or trying to is basically being a retard. That shit is uncontrollable and can wipe out entire solar systems.
I guess there is a chance Jean is back as well. Or according to my small amount of research. Because that is what an angry Cyclops needs, Jean Grey.
One of those boy scouts formed a kill squad to secretly eliminate bad guys.
Try and guess which one, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
I'm having trouble imagining a scenario where Captain America loses, to be honest.
Cyclops is a bit of a one trick pony and he's just not in Cap's league.
that trick is "I shoot beams from my eyes that can shatter a mountain"
so
It's a good trick, but I still don't see Cap losing to it. I'm pretty sure Cap has faced worse and come out on top.
Logan has been bitch slapping Cyclops for the longest, for example. Maybe that colors my opinion of him.
wolverine has lost almost every actual fight he's had with Cyclops
because they go like this
- Wolverine rushes Cyclops, claws out, going grrrrrrr
- Cyclops blasts him through a wall
- Wolverine gets up, having regenerated, and rushes Cyclops again
- Cyclops blasts him again
- ad infinitum until Wolverine is embedded in the ground and Cyclops walks away

Nah, there's plenty of "Professor Xavier steps in at the last minute!" and other such Deus ex Machina. That's because if a pissed off wolverine ever gets ahold of Cyclops, he's dead. End Character.
AvX is not pretty to look at, though #3 is easier on the eyes.
Cyclops "plan" is super unlikely to work out since it all hinges on "maybe that cosmic force of destruction won't kill us because I used to bone it" but his attitude is pretty understandable given the last few years of x events.

To be fair:
Cyclops has been told by people with knowledge of the future that it is super-important that this happen. Of course, the Avengers have been told by similarly-situated individuals that it is super-important that it not.

I never cared for the Emma Frost heel turn. I'd forgive Jean Gray coming back from the dead if it lead to Emma Frost getting bitch slapped.
Even Magneto is like "I don't think this is a good plan..."...
I haven't followed X-Men in years, I wasn't aware Cyclops had flipped his shit like that.
Yeah, I think he is worse in Uncanny than he is in Astonishing. But he also has been dating the The White Queen. Fucking Emma Frost is a walking down the sexy road to villain hood.
Of course, like I said earlier I don't really blame Cyclops. The X-Men have basically been the Marvel Universe's bitch for the last 10 years. They have basically thought of every way to fuck mutants in the ass outside of just straight killing them all off.

Cap on points I think.

chihuahua.
I will not debate cyclops v cap
Because a strong guy w/ a shield cannot beat a mutant who can destroy mountains just by taking off his glasses.

Comic art has dropped down a few pegs since I was last paying attention.

Yeah, I was noticing that last panel was pretty terrible. But, maybe I shouldn't talk.
Oh! I do have a bit more comics knowledge - I have the first Spiderman Noir 'book', and I've read Watchmen, Sandman and parts of Transmetropolitan.
I never cared for the Emma Frost heel turn. I'd forgive Jean Gray coming back from the dead if it lead to Emma Frost getting bitch slapped.
this sure is a stupid post alright
"comic art" is not a monolith
there is not a dude who is "The Artist of Comic Books" and if a book looks off, clearly the entire industry has gone downhill
stop that
