Marty: The future, it's where you're going? Doc: That's right, twenty five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five world series.
Didn't the author make the amazons rapist-murderers that sold their sons into slavery?
He made the Amazons flawed, yeah. They are a race of warrior women who are pretty goddamn brutal and do some terrible things, which makes Diana leaving them and setting a moral standard for herself even more impactful as opposed to her coming from a race of perfect, peaceful warrior women who are also super advanced with sci fi knowledge?
and not slavery, they are free to leave Hephaestus' service whenever they want, but he is a kind caretaker and they choose to remain with him.

also the sex was consensual, only the murder wasn't
regardless i find the idea of paradise island as a utopia, a hidden place free from man which sends out WW as an emissary to the broken world, to be more mythologically compelling than Azzarello's take
but they could both work. really i'd like for paradise island to not be in the comics at all for at least a couple of years.
Shockingly, giving Barry an actual personality makes the book much more enjoyable.
they should try it with wonder woman!
also manapul's a fucking genius
really the problems with the new 52 are entirely an issue of quality control
Except she has one in her new series? Along with a super awesome supporting cast?
i'm not as sold on this as you but it's definitely a good series regardless
but i find it hard to care about the greek gods at this point no matter how gangster Azzarello makes them
like there's heaps more class but it still feels like the same basic shit WW's been doing for years now
The Greek gods are entwined in Wonder Woman's mythos. Without them is like taking Gotham out of Batman. She needs to have them around. Another reason is it distinguishes her from Batman & Superman. The best version of them was in Rucka's run.

nope
gotham is a setting, the greek gods supporting characters
they need to exist but they don't need to be the villains of every comic
also what's cool about wonder woman is that she has no defined setting and isn't an american so she can just go everywhere in the world
while using themyscira as a home base, a la the batcave or the fortress of solitude
which is why it should be utopian because it has to be a place of safety and it should be a huge deal when that gets breached
perhaps she doesn't live there - although you have to wonder where she does live - but themyscira is too good a setting to not have it in the comics at all
i figure she returns every so often to visit her mum and do amazon stuff
abut also i think we have very different conceptions of what it is to be wonder woman

Prior to Simone's run she used to live in a Themysciran embassy.
i figure she returns every so often to visit her mum and do amazon stuff
That's exactly what she does.

Because DC has been terrible at keeping her consistent. Except for a few things which keep coming up again and again which only fuck up the mythos like Diana being obsessed with discovering "who she really is" (repeatedly), the Amazons being turned into villains (making them flawed is good but they go overboard too much IMO) and destroying Themyscira/the Amazons. She has a great mythos, except they keep fucking up whenever writers make good status quo's and don't keep the supporting cast consistent.

It wasn't the same, not even close.
Only returning VA people were Bats, Joker, and Harley.

god i'm so confused by who is who now
That is like the dumbest name and costume
Apparently, so. I did not notice that at all!
That was the New Batman Adventures Batgirl. The original actress in TAS was Melissa Gilbert. The contrast between voices is startling.

i love tim drake bunches but red robin is a dumb superhero name/theme/whatever
Nite
Wings
he's robin but alternate version
so he's red robin
...okay it's not amazing

that's it
who wnats to start a batman themed restauant?
that shit looks like it would get posted ironically in the webcomics thread
Action Comics, Batman, Animal Man, and Swamp Thing are all worthy reading
that's not good enough, basically
but there are still some good books underneath the crap
Their burgers are decent. You can fix this problem with ketchup
And they have bottomless steak fries
Goddamn I love Red Robin
batman and robin is also really good
uhhhhh flash is good
i dunno i pretty quickly dropped to only those batman books when it comes to DC after the reboot
It really is . I really don't know why they changed it. One of my many annoyances with that show.
Then they changed her voice actor again in Beyond.
that is a good book
Also get the Burger Medium. Amazingly the Dry issue vanishes.
Shockingly, giving Barry an actual personality makes the book much more enjoyable.
this is something I will agree with Vow about
I'm not sure why they changed her VA in Beyond. I did like Angie Harmon's work, though.
Alfred's
