Decided it was time to get the final cheevo. Hardcore from start to finish. The food, water, sleep requirements do add more balance to the game. I even try to sit down or gather around a fire when I eat. It's not as bad as I thought it might be.
Ammo having weight really changes things. As does crippled limbs.
On the one hand, British culture. On the other hand, London metro.
I see no downside to this. Especially compared to Bethesda doing...really anything related to China.
If I EVER see a metro in a fallout game again, I will be very, very cross.
If they did it like Metro 2033 where there are actual settlements underground, as well as dangerous areas, that would be nice. It shouldn't be the only way to get around central London though.

every time I make a melee character I get the combat knife, rebar club, and bumper sword at about the same time
i wish the sword had more of a place around this point in the game, it doesn't have the dps of the knife or the dam per hit of the club

The Fallout 3 Metro proves Bethesda can't do underground areas.

I just installed all the dlc for the game and now its bugged the hell out of my iron sights. Whenever I release the right mouse button too fast I get stuck in the iron sights view. I can correct it by going in to third person or firing another shot but its super annoying.
Anyone experience anything like this? And it's not just my saves files, it does it on new games as well.
Edit: Meh, I don't know what's going on with this. It's now doing it less frequently, maybe it will resolve itself...

The zombie mods and mmm made the tunnels dangerous, and for me at least fun as all hell and a place to use all my explosives (still had to shoot them in the head or they wouldnt stay dead)

I've made it into the Casino. Now to sneak past holo sentries.
don't worry
the worst is yet to come
it's a well written symphony, this dead money. It creates this strong melody and then flips to tread new ground for a while before bringing it all back in one awful crescendo
good characters though
edit: my impressions of dead money are also easy to find by googling my username and 'Fuck Dead Money'
Graham shoots the two White Legs, gives his terrifying speech, I say 'Yo Graham calm down you're freaking me out' and Salt-Upon-Wounds runs off. The 'Quest Completed: Crush The White Legs' thing pops, I level up and distribute skill points and then nothing happens. I'm stuck in place, staring at Graham for eternity. Anyone know of a way to fix it? I'm on PC.
Nevermind, fixed it. For the benefit of possible future Googlers: I deactivated the 'Delayed DLC' and 'Honest Hearts Extensions' mods I was using.
There are also raiders living in the metros. It's still really stupid. The problem is that Bethesda goes for things that look and feel cool and ignore logic. The subway systems should be like gold mines in the Fallout world. Since they didn't suffer as much damage as structures on the surface, they'll be filled with a lot of intact tech and material. There should be prospectors going in to scrounge for electronics, fuel, and metal. People should be laying claim to different sections of the subway and fighting each over less damaged areas.

I don't give a shit about all that.
I just hate how annoying it is to navigate inside the underground areas, and how boring they are to look at.
How much fuel would one expect to find in a subway? I don't picture finding a Chevron station underground. Even tech, unless you're looking to strip lighted billboards or out of work telephones. :P
I also would figure after a couple hundred years, anything of value would've been stripped away and people would have moved on. Particularly if the nasties started moving into the neighborhood.

After a couple hundred years without maintenance, I would expect to see a lot of collapsed tunnels, unless it's in a desert.
A Fallout in another country would mean no Vault Tec, since they and the Vaults were an American enterprise.
Might be interesting to see into Canada or Mexico a little bit, especially Canada since you could learn more about the prewar annexation and the environment might lead to some cool coldweather survival stuff. After five games I'm kinda burnt out on desolate deserts so it would be nice to see a wasteland with trees in it without having to resort to mods.
Canadian Bandit: "So uh yeah, you mind giving us your caps?"
You: "Uh... no."
Canadian Bandit: "Oh, well okay then. Keep your stick on the ice, eh?"
I know people love to shit on Fallout: Tactics, but it was very good at capturing the Fallout "theme." Humor included.
Considering how they didn't even bother trying to purify water for 200 years, I doubt that they've really bothered to loot the subways.
Also, it's not just fuel and electronics but also precious metals, glass, gears, engine parts, oil used to lubricate the gears, air filtration systems, etc.

ok so people want dual wielding, and it seems easy enough to implement... but what else do you guys want in your fallout as far as game mechanics.
Aside from wanting to run around as a ghoul and soak up radiation like a champ while unlocking unique dialogue choices and racism? Thats been the biggest one for me since Fallout 3.
Hmm. Might sound dorky but starting a relationship or building a town is something I wouldn't mind. I like lil management stuff like the casino mods from New Vegas. I like having those sort of diversions to check out when I'm not beating a raider to death with a baseball bat while ED-E cooks him.
This. Squad mechanics, being able to travel with 3 humanoids, or 3 people in total. A lot more blood and gore. British Fallout, Japanese Fallout. Fallout: Common Wealth. Fallout: New New York. Fallout: New New Orleans.
Every weapon modable with every kind of weapon enhancement. If I want dual scopes on my dual auto modded revolvers, damn it, I should have it. Different modes for Vats. Being to go into bullet time, or become fast as shit in regular time. A Fallout version of dragon shouts, preferably GECK power related where it changes your DNA with SCIENCE!. Better animations. First person cover system stolen from RO2. Better melee combat (Hint: steal M&B's or Butcher Bay's melee) being able to kill anyone, even children. Let Obsidian develope it. Dual wielding.
Co-op
And don't give me "but ooo that ruins the flavor" it would still be cool.

This is one of the things that bugged me about FO3. You can find guns working 200 years later and there are still grocery stores with edible food.
Co-op would be interesting to implement if mods were still a thing. What would you see if people are using different mods than you? A guy covered in exclamation points?
No co-op, not every game needs co-op. Either have a Fallout online that is singularly focused on multiple people playing, or have a single player Fallout.

went back to my parked new vegas mega mod install to finish off dlc (owb and lr i still have to do, and some mod bounties and then the final few quests again) and im trapped inside some weird yet awesome redoubt teleporter system where each teleporter sends me to insane death from various monsters, my fav being the abandon enclave base with all the fucking deathclaws let loose, complete with 2 mothers and 3 alpha males.
In regards the F3 Metro, I feel they present just about the weakest element of the entire game. The map design of Fallout 3 was lacking overall, really, I never felt the desire to explore it or uncover its secrets. Washington could have been a great experience, but instead it was needlessly hostile and difficult to navigate. They have as much as said that the dungeons are broken into sections that are copy-pasted into larger environments. Because of that those Metro areas completely lacked character.
For whatever reason Beth decided that the most natural points for human settlement were anywhere but the cities but, as we saw with the Boneyard and San Fran, it's really quite the opposite in the Fallout universe. Bethesda seemed terrified of creating large settlements, I fully understand trying to emulate the loneliness of traversing the wastes in real time, but the settlements are supposed to break up the unending hostility. Rivet City was the only place that came close to that notion, and still they chose to shove it as far to the south-east as it could go, instead of making it central.
The choice to focus everything in the south east was strange. I couldn't tell you a single thing about what is north-west of Megaton, after at least 100 hours of play.
Overall, since after Morrowind it's been the same problems again and again with Bethesda. They make amazing games, but when it comes to character, be it the characteristics of the locations or the people that inhabit them, they fall completely short. And that always leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Sounds like A World of Pain mod? If not, I'd love to find out which one that is. Sounds entertaining.
If it's AWOP, go look for the Emergency Railyard Station for more fun.

Those vampire people had a settlement in a Metro station.
Still doesn't change your point though. Those Metro stations were so annoying.
