Amazing.

Yes. Flyer, hover mode etc.
Basically you can use it exactly as it is now or make it faster but way less manoeuvrable in exchange for being practically impossible to kill.

I want to love 40k again so bad, but on the other hand I reeeeeally like how little I've spent on shit lately.
If they did shit like, say, razorbacks and typhoon missiles and certain types of weapons can choose skyfire then I'd be ok with it. I'm even ok with not every missile launcher, just CERTAIN weapons.
As it is, there is no way, without allies, for a spacewolves army to inclusively have anything to shoot down a flyer other than on a roll of a 6.
Having to buy a fucking bastion is a cop out and frankly, reeks of GW wanting to sell models.

Can I finally pay X points for sandbags for my Guardsmen!?
Try playing any army that doesn't even have 48" range weapons.
The mechanics are interesting and balanced... under the assumption everyone gets something to fight flyers. As it is, right now, it's the IG show because Vendettas are just so much fucking better than every other flyer.

Yes! But also no, it's an Aegis defence line doing the same thing.
For each 2K points you get a fortification, it's deployed before terrain is. Trenchline (4+ save, +2 if you go to ground, need to be within 2" behind the wall the benefit) is 50pts for 4 long and 4 shot bits of Defence line or 28" of trench. For 20 pts you get a comm relay allowing you reroll reserves, 35 pts get you a lascannon that can shoot flyers at standard BS as well as anything coming in from reserve, and for 50pts you get a quad autocannon to shoot at flyers at standard BS and a reserve choice when it arrives.
Flyers are generally close to 200 pt AV10 vehicles. You don't need specialised units unless you want to wipe them out in one turn, they're tanks who trade armour for 6 to hit and not even Broadsides are able to do better than around 1/3 when it comes to killing them.
You will get shot at by flyers, and also tanks, that's 6th ed vehicles for you. "Dealing with" doesn't mean wiping them out before they do anything (unless you've hydras or Vendettas, but the latter has always been stupid).
"I reserve my whole army, aka concede"
Glad I held off learning Eldar until the new version though, because I'm already confusing my 5th and 6th edition rules with Nids. Brain overload.
Vendettas and Stormravens, the most commons flyers, are AV12. The idea that 'most' flyers are AV10 is really misleading.
Buy my 40k shit.
Jump Packs, Jet Packs, Jet Bikes, and Skimmers each receive a token. This token may be expended in the following ways, depending on the unit type:
Storm ravens are fair enough, they're usually transporting enough stuff they don't want to be zooming and can be shot at normally, whilst Vendettas are the symptom of a fevered imagination. You're thinking of Vultures, which are thrust three and are largely ground attack only. The idea you can get that many lascannons without sacrificing speed and transport capacity is madness.

No, he means Vendettas. 3 Twin-linked Lascannons with Skyfire in the quantities you can get Vendettas in is going to ensure total air superiority. You're then free to start mopping up ground targets, and can swap to hover as needed. Vendettas are far and away the best flyer available.
I don't blame them. When someone reserves a whole army in 5th, it's infuriating. Especially if it's kill points, since you have nothing to actually accomplish for a turn.
I was looking at the deployment types, and I like how they did short side deployment. You get a short, deep deployment zone and a smaller no-mans land in the center (same distance apart, bit not as wide). That'll make for some nasty meat grinders. I like a game where I have room to maneuvre, but I also like a game where you and your opponent just get stuck in and murderize things.
They were in 5th as well. Vendettas are fucking stupid. I don't know why they felt the need to invent a gunship for IG when they already had Vultures. And then not remove its transport space, making it the best gunship in the game with the same transport ability as the Valkyrie.
Cruddace should have his fingers cut off so he never ruins another codex again.
If they'd devise a way to make it so the guy who goes second gets their movement related defensive benefits on the first turn just like the guy who goes first, then I wouldn't want to play reserve armies.
Is the sort of pissing and moaning going on the sort of thing that just occurs with a GW edition release online? Because for every person trying to be rational about it, there's 20 claiming the sky is falling.
See: everywhere else on the internet about everything else.
