Hmmm is Blender a solid program for absolute beginners to learn from? I've alwayswanted to pick up 3d modeling but i'm not sure where to start from
I don't know. I used it because it was free.
Also, just because it looks like a robot doesn't necessarily mean I knew what I was doing. Sure I managed to model and make it do a one finger handstand, but I have no clue if it'd be good to use in a video game or movie or anything.
Is it rigged? The poly count looks about right for a contemporary 3rd person game. Obviously it would need to have the normals softened, UVs laid out and textures made and possibly baked from a higher poly model.
Speaking of high poly, you (and by this I mean everybody) should look into Sculptris. It's also free.
