Messenger bags are really rough on your shoulders if you're carrying text books.
I got a decent swiss army backpack for like $50, that has a laptop sleeve and an ipod pocket. It gets the job done.
that is how I read this, and was immediately filled with the greatest vision ever of little gimpchildren flying headfirst into plate glass windows and a scruffy old janitor sighing, shoulders slumped, and grabbing his squeegee on a giant stick to go scrape off yet another reereestain.

I have a backpack for school and I'm fine with it but for anything non-school I always feel really stupid carrying it around, and I'm thinking of getting a messenger back at some point. For now I'm just squeezing everything I need to carry into my pockets.
I've got a decent swiss army messenger bag, but then again I won't have to carry too much day-to-day because i've got one or two blocks of free time between classes.
If you have to carry a lot for classes, and don't have time to go back to your room stick with a backpack.

your messenger bag appears to be composed of many smaller messenger backs sewn together
This is a crappy picture of the messenger bag I use
My backpack is still my old jansport from early high school, it's pretty beat up now
That is not a messenger bag. That is a big fat purse. It doesn't even have a flap!
whatever
I put books in it and it transports goods perfectly fine

To rage: That's too much bag if you ask me. Hell I never had textbooks in my bag. I used to just carry one or two under my arm. My bag was for folders, notebooks, and pens and shit.

yeah i thought so at first too, but I needed a sturdy laptop bag that was easy to travel with. Not a fan of briefcase style bags, and this thing is so incredibly comfortable to wear on the shoulders.
Has a ton of little pockets and areas to clip stuff, and has a headphone 'port' for the iPod.

i've had a homestar runner one for like five years. it's the same bag as the Toothpaste for Dinner ones
no problems with it. the bottom got crackly so I bought a new one
Nothing is more telling than watching a fat person walking in a downtown area and/or around school with with a rolling bag.
That bag tasted so damn good
But not for retarded children. They use backpacks.

I like that quite a bit.
Good find.

They're kind of expensive but I love them so much, I've been using mine since high school
I have a smaller red one for when I don't need to haul bigger things around
They're getting more popular, I see them around a lot more now.
It's the only purse type thing I feel comfortable using for some reason, everything else seems too girly to me I guess
I'm not a smarmy cockhole.
Jansport bitches.

You know what's awesome?
Not being poor.
You should try it some time.
You know what's awesome?
Not carrying around old shabby crap that looks like ass just because you've got some cheesy sentimental value attached to it.
You should try it some time.
