I always look at something and blow out which seems to help with keeping the muscles from tightening up. Stuff like flu shots you hardly even notice anyway, but it definitely helps with some of the larger gauge needles/IV's if you ever have to deal with those.

Yes hi I have an actual legitimate fear of needles caused by an event in my past. Please don't lump us all in with being a big weenie. It is an actual problem that I have to deal with.
I had a friend growing up who didn't like needles. He had a nurse try and perform the "SURPRISE!" thing on him.
He bent the needle, inside himself.
He gets to complain about needles all he wants.
Had one straight up break off when going inside me when I was a wee lad. Let me tell you, the sight of a needle sticking out of your right shoulder muscle dripping blood is not something that is easily removed from your subconcious. I pretty much have to get shots or give blood drawings lying down or I straight up pass out/throw up.

I don't like calling people on the phone. I'm pretty sure it's because when I was like 9 years old I called my friend whose number began with 991 and instead called 911, got confused, then hung up. The operator called me back and assuming I was prank calling, yelled at me.
And now her mall's being evacuated due a bomb threat!
I don't even
Given the week so far I think this entire continent needs to just take a bloody nap Friday or something.

I always enjoy chatting with my friend who went on to become a large animal vet. As annoying as my work day is, it doesn't involve sticking my hand up a cow's ass or draining a basketball sized abscess into a 5 gallon bucket.
I have bad veins, so blood draws are tricky at best. I once had a vein blow out on me when they were injecting contrast dye for an mri. I usually get huge, arm-long bruises from blood tests.
Shots don't bother me. And I've developed an almost zen-like state I enter when blood samples are taken. I am terrified, yet able to do whatever the technician asks. They have to sometimes tell me to breathe, though.
If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing
Those people that wanted in our shop so badly for soap are the reason we now have to open on Thanksgiving. My job is awesome, like... 98% of my customers are awesome but then there's always a few...
Yeah, I gotta deal with injection needles on the daily, but phlebotomists can go fuck themselves
Some of them are not very good at their job. Why are you going for the AC (elbow pit) every time? Save that vein for when I get in a car accident and I need 3 liters of blood. Don't be sticking that shit because you're too lazy to look for another. Also it's more painful and I would like to use my arm today thank you very much.
I used not mind injections, but when I started having to self-inject, I developed such bad anxiety about it that I physically couldn't do it. I'd start sobbing and shaking.
I'm so lucky one of the nurses at work gives me them, even though as time has gone on I've gotten more sensitive to the pain, which sucks.
Huh. My last customer of the day was a young man who came in asking if we did custom drawn portraits (we don't), asked for a business card, and then handed me a crumpled piece of paper with the writing "I have a bomb, give me all of your money." I told him I don't think so, have a nice day, and to please get the hell out of my store.
Not quite how I'd have liked to end my day.
Apparently, two teen boys came in earlier asking the same thing but didn't try the note thing. We've also had a younger teen come in around 9am and then a little later walking around and asking about a 11x14 frame multiple times over the past few weeks. We've also had a few walk in, starting looking around, and them leave as quickly as they can when we go to offer them help.
Safe to say there's some funny business going on, and I (and my coworkers) do not feel as safe as we could at work. We're on a corner and the area is reasonably policed/patrolled but I'm still debating making a call or report to the police office. There's been enough stuff going on that does not feel 'right' that I feel like I should do something especially now that one has, to my face, tried to rob me/my place of work.

The person made a threat, and demanded money. It's time to get the cops involved.
A bunch of kids wandering around being dumb and talking about frames and being jumpy? Maybe not so much. But somebody threatens you and demands money, it's a different story.

I have such conflicting feelings about being sent home early. Like today, we were real slow and stuff and you can't have a kitchen full of people just standing around, and I'm glad to get off early, even if only by half an hour, but maaaaaannnn do I need the money right now. Even if it was only gonna be like 4.35 for that last half hour.

My younger brother did the same thing. Still made him take his shots. Mercy is for the weak.

God yeah The joys of minimum wage. When you have to work a half hour extra the £3 you earn feels like nothing, but half an hour less and £3 feels like a fortune.

So my boss is kind of an arse and he's been pissing me off lately. Today he was complaining that he had to work because it's Diwali. Then at the end of the night I realised the only other Indian person who worked today is a Sikh, and everyone who's a Hindu got the day off, except my boss who worked open til close so that they could.
Why's he have to complicate things by being nice sometimes. It's much easier when he's just always annoying.
Hey guys renovating our lobby - the first fire alarm you triggered with the sander I could forgive. But the second time, not so much.
And the third time in three days? It's fun to end a call with "Well, I will have to call you back because the fire alarm went off."
This morning I get to school and there are a bunch of teachers all standing outside. As I walk up a fire engine pulls up. Alarm went off. They check and don't find anything.
We get into second block and the library is pretty empty when the alarm goes off again. I am clearing the library when the principal gets on the intercom to tell everyone to ignore it. Apparently it was malfunctioning and the guys fixing it triggered it the second time.
I had that library cleared in like two seconds too!

Yes. Hello. Make a report. Bomb threats are serious crimes but very easy reports to write!
Will do when I get back to work tomorrow. Homeland Security came by a few months ago with a brochure of information about reporting stuff like this (and more serious) but I have no idea where it got filed.
Am I better off filing a report online or calling it in with it being 12+ hours after the altercation occurred?

My summer job is an avenue to such weird experiences sometimes.
A tv show filmed in the fort some months back, and the episode finally aired. You can see me marching and firing the cannon, but the most amusing part for me is that they filmed me and our drummer playing Yankee Doodle on fife, which got used as essentially the background music for the whole segment.
Do you think this qualifies me as a professional musician?

It qualifies you for a beating if you haven't paid your union dues.

Did you get paid? If so, yes. Now try to figure out how many separations you are from Kevin Bacon since you were on TV. I can do three myself.

Yeah, the last time I tried to give blood I lost consciousness from the fear. Got told I shouldn't be giving blood.
I can handle small needles like flu shots myself, but the prolonged drawing of a blood donation is too much for my vasovagal syncope condition.
So.....
I am in a constant argument with one of my managers about their lack of communication.
As I left he asked for everyone that they needed permission to clock out.
I clocked out without asking.
I know it's been going downhill since a bunch of people ran off to the new store but there is no excuse for the way it is.

Honestly I've run into some horrible nurses doing that shit (and to be fair, some very good ones.) I'm kinda glad they've been moving towards those outsourced lab places where they have a person who does nothing but just draw blood all day. I know the training those people get is like a single semester at college but the practice they get lets them become very good. At least the local one has become very good at it.

Wud yoo laek to lern aboot meatz? Look here!
A couple workers get escorted by the fire fighters back to their store so they can grab everyone's stuff
And there are customers there somehow
WHO PROCEED TO ARGUE WITH THEM ABOUT CLOSING THE STORE
DURING A BOMB THREAT
BECAUSE FUCKING SOAP HAS TO BE BOUGHT THIS MOMENT
All is well.
I am going to drink beer and eat pizza and try to be less disappointed in the world for a bit.
I'm almost positive the comment, "Don't you know who my husband is?" was made.

I like to think that the doctors have a pool of my blood somewhere.
What do doctors do with blood once they've finished with it? Incineration or what?
but they're listening to every word I say
They feast.

Basically I watched the doctor and nurse poke coffee-stirrer sized needles into my wife's neck.
I'm not usually squeamish about needles, but holy shit!
