Little Lamplight is indeed stupid but honestly it was such a relatively small piece of the game that I still don't understand how worked up about it some people get.
I mean, I probably had 200+ hours into FO3 through multiple playthroughs, before I saw people on the internet flipping their shit over it as if it ruined the game. When for me it was just basically "oh, kids....and now mutants in a vault, cool", and that's basically it.
It's not LL itself, it's that LL is a microcosm of their whole "this looks cool let's just toss in X because why not" school of design. Which can give good individual vignettes, yes, but is slapdash as a whole
I liked that, though. I like that the Capital Wasteland is a weird bunch of different tribes and societies that have pieced together bits and bobs of the Old World into into something new. There's just so many more weird little stories all over F3, like the Cult of the Atom, or the Republic of Dave, or the Dunwhich Building. It made this great feeling of never knowing what the next area would bring. I feel like, while the Mojave was more cohesive, it was just less interesting, you know? Like so much of the worldbuilding was concentrated into the Strip and the politics around it that everything else was left to suffer.
Bleah. Picked up New Vegas Ultimate during the Steam Halloween sale. This is in the NCR Camp Golf resort house.
Any ideas why this might be happening? I've got a few mods, none are retextures though, and I also deactivated every single one trying to pin this down. The walls remain screwed up.
Out of curiousity, is NVSE running properly? Just wondering because I don't know if I've ever seen a checking for NVSE message on-screen.
Yeah, NVSE has been working just fine. I actually got the issue fixed, should have mentioned... It was an ENB thing. I reinstalled ENB a couple times and eventually it just worked. So now I'm afraid to mess with it
Assuming my ass ever gets around to it. My mod would have dealt with more island communities on the East coast, and then had you deal with a seaborn civilization based on all the yachts, cargo ships, and naval vessels that had been at sea during the war. Now they've all been united and "recruited" under the mad Admiral Hammer.
Of course there's the issue on how so many ships would survive saltwater exposure for 100's of years, but.....SCIENCE!

Well, that's what chapter 2 of my mod would have dealt with. All those mirelurks rising from the deep were being driven up by their raiding parties and their fleet of subs.
If you want to see proof of my shit design, search for my name on Youtube.
I need an energy weapon in FO3, stat. I am at Megaton.
Also, I should probably find the guys from my vault.
I wandered around for a long, long time before I started doing the "main story" quests in Fallout 3. It's a habit I have in open world games.
I was basically the invincible warrior godking of the wasteland by the time I went to see Three Dog. I was told of certain areas to avoid so as not to spoil things, and I just explored.
I figure Dad left because he had shit to do I don't know he's doing his Dad thing or whatever I'm having fun killing raiders and shit leeme alone.
Shadow of Boston is a crappy subtitle, but since it seems they are going with subtitles for Fallout games now i guess this makes New Vegas Fallout 4 and Shadow of Boston fallout 5? or something asscreed shit where its subtitle city until they bring out the number 4 after 7 games.
Hmmm, now I want a Fallout game with the Nemesis system for raiders...
Yes please!

If anything the surviving raiders (if any) should learn not to mess with the player.
I wouldn't mind though if you somehow got a rep while wearing a specific outfit and used a certain weapon that people wouldn't attack you with pointed sticks after awhile, but change your clothes and they'll attack you again.

So I've abandoned the main quest, and am now looking for the family, who weren't in any of the three places. Although I did die in the hideout once, because it's infested with radscorps, and I have no energy cells.

Suuuuuuuuucks. I'd give lots of things for them to make liars of themselves, but I guess it's my own fault for convincing myself that this will be the time we get an announcement.
EDIT: It still doesn't explain why Keighley was meeting with Bethesda PR people a bit ago though.

Well I've heard New Order is pretty good, and I'd take an idtech 5 engine'd FO

Evil Within DLC or another doom 4 trailer would be my guess
A few things I've messed around with and generally like:
Serve. The. Wall.
(Underground Hideout, with item sorters and walls to hang all your guns.)
A World of Pain adds a lot of places to explore/dudes to kill. Some of it fits pretty nicely with the region/lore, some of it is a little out there. You'll be hard pressed to run out of new places to find with AWOP.
AG Supplementary Uniques is a great weapons mod with over a hundred unique guns to find across the Mojave. They're usually an amalgamation of existing gun parts and stuff so it doesn't look too weird like ridiculously shiny guns or anything.
WME or WMX. These add more/different weapon mods to the existing guns in the game. Pick one mod or the other, don't run both.
Bounties 1 & 2. Become a bounty hunter and bring in/take down some of the Mojave's worst banditos. The creator is also working on part 3.
Warzones. Sets up a bunch of Group vs group battles in various places on the map. Now you can actually see more than 2 raiders trying to take out McCarren, it'll be a pretty full blown battle. Very resource intensive though, also pretty cheap from all the loot left behind.
You'll probably want a UI mod, Darnified is the old standby but there should be others out there.
If you have the full New Vegas and Fallout 3, there's a Tale of Two Wastelands mod that lets you play through both games. It can be fairly buggy though. Still, kind of fun to go back to the Capitol Wasteland with a grenade machinegun and stuff
NVSE - New Vegas Script Extender is probably going to be needed for some mods. Also the 4GB loader to allow you to use more than 2GB.
FNVEdit or Wyrebash. It might be a bit tricky to get the hang of, but learning how to make a merged patch can help a great deal with conflicting mods.
Some people also like big, comprehensive packages like Project Nevada. I don't use it personally but it's quite popular.
There's a 4GB memory version of New Vegas on this nexus site. Is there a special way I need to run that so I can take advantage of at least some of the horsepower of my computer?

It's been awhile and my memory is fuzzy, but all you basically do is download and install it per directions, then make a shortcut to desktop of the executable and use that to launch the game.

Im OK with this wait. Every month it doesn't come out is another month where it'll be bigger and gamebyro will be better.
That was always what I figured too.

Shadow of Boston might not even be the next Fallout game. I wouldn't put it past Bethesda to make a moblie or website tie in.

Wasn't there already rumors of it being Boston?

I really wish the trains and buses had been build bigger in the game so you could have some combat in them.
