We are not super talented yet, therefore, we have wasted our life.

I'm doing my PhD at 26

My main source of anxiety and thoughts of being a failure emerge from the fact that there are people my age who have finished theirs

I'll be lucky if I'm done by 28

Did you start spoiling movies for her that I was going to watch this evening?

That may also be a point of conflict.

I'm sorry Posh. I should have been more considerate of that, she had meant it as a general statement but I can see where that might have been construed as a spoiler. I won't say anything further about it.

I finished my MA at 30.

I am considering my PhD now at 32.

One of my real life heroes didn't finish his PhD till he was 38. He is one of the top HIV researchers and complete bad ass.

With PhD's it isn't about age it is about publishing.

I had my masters at 23 mahemhemhem.

But now I live with my parents and work a tolerable job for extremely mediocre money. Things are ok, all things considered, but I am proof that age-you-complete-fancy-degree is not always positively correlated with success.

It is silly to worry about finishing your PhD at 28, that is quite young to finish a PhD. What you should worry about is every horrible thing that comes after.

Raven my friends are your future. One just turned 26. They both took a year off I think before their masters.

One has an actual IR job. She works for an international lobbying firm working with South America which is her thing. She makes less than me.

The other is an administrative assistant at a financial firm. She makes more than me.

Because in DC MAs are as common as pigeons.
