With the announcement of Bionic Commando, I thought I'd make this thread.
What video game series do you think should be revived?
I think Killer Instinct, Marvel Vs Capcom, Punch-Out!! and Earthbound (Mother 3 localization now damn it!) should get a jolt back with new games.
I was just thinking how great a next-gen killer instinct would be the other day. You read my mind
Rare actually commented on this recently (first letter response.)
Rare can't even make good games in genres they are good at anymore, so how are they supposed to manage reviving a game from a genre they didn't understand one lick?
Gargoyles for Game Boy.
Shadowrun RPG.
A proper Phantasy Star RPG.

You know, many of these games fall under the umbrella of "games that were awesome but none of us can really describe how it would have any relevance in today's world." Honestly, many of these games are probably better left alone.
...Or back with prettier sprites as a DS game. *sigh*

You can't tell me a new Punch Out game on the Wii wouldn't be awesome

Many of these games fall under the umbrella. Key word: many. Punch Out on the Wii would actually make a decent amount of sense.
I got lost in the discussion in the PS thread going on right now, but:
Is the series that good? I have yet to fire up a single one. Distinguishing JRPG features???
Get Phantasy Star 4, and just play it for a few hours. You'll be hooked.
And if you do decide to play it, don't look at the older Phantasy Star thread, the OP spoiled it incredibely without any warning. I was just starting the game too
I think it would be nice to see some really good old school games get revived. Battletoads, Road Rash, and Vectorman are all up there for me. As far as more recent games are concerned I would probably pick Extreme G as I always really liked those games but they seemed to have stopped making them.

PS4, definately. The defining characteristics of the PS series were, in no particular order: robots, mutant elf chicks that attack with claws, robots, ancient evils from another dimension, world-ending catastrophies on a regular basis, space travel, non-emo main characters, mercenaries, driveable vehicles that are always way more powerful than your characters, a magic system that doesn't revolve around the elements or the light/dark dichotomy, and fucking maddeningly difficult dungeons.
I'd love to see a DS revision of PS4, or a DQ8-style sequel.
Seeing Fear Effect 3 would be nice, as always, but I've accepted it'll never happen.
hmmmm... Lesbians...
Also, agree on the first one too, but I'm interested in seeing how Dragon Sword turned out. Everyone who's played it so far loves it, ala Phantom Hourglass.

There was a third game called Inferno that was in development, but Eidos canned it at the last moment. The lesbian thing was a stupid marketing point. They're survival horror games, and very good ones.
Especially the first. The endgame was twisted.
The second's a prequel for a reason.
Since two thirds of the cast get killed at the end of part 1.
Dragon Sword looks good, but I really don't like what they're doing to the Ryu mythos storywise.

Also, A Boy and His Blob.
Also, Al Unser Jr. Turbo Racing.
Okay, maybe not that last one. But definitely Master Blaster!
On a serious note, Diablo 3 and Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri 2 are the two biggest on my list now that Starcraft 2 is a reality.

A nicely done 3D Double Dragon would be the bees knees.

Looks like you would have plenty of Questing to do for some time.
