Saw At The Drive-In last night at the Fillmore (Philadelphia).
If you're a fan and didn't see them back in the 90's (like me) do whatever you can to catch them before they most likely self destruct again, because holy hell was that a great show.
Edit: They played a ton of Relationship of Command, maybe like four total songs off of In/Casino/Out and Vaya? Of the three albums its probably my least favorite but its really easy to forgive that since it's my first time seeing them and its all new.
I've seen them twice (once in 2012 and once in 2016) and goddamn I get chills when the maracas kick off at the start of Arcarsenal. Delighted they played Invalid Litter Dept. this time too.

Ticketmaster just settled a massive class action lawsuit, so if you've ever been to a concert in the past few years you probably have free ticket codes sitting in your TM account. I had 16 free tickets plus a bunch of discount codes.
The free tickets are only applicable to select events, and the list looks mostly shitty in my opinion. But who knows, maybe you'll get lucky! If you live in Charlotte, NC you can maybe see The Cure for free tonight!

This is my shiz. I am still impressed on how lazy the tempo is. It's actually kind of hard to air drum to because it feels like it's always slipping behind the time signature.
I haven't listened to Ween in years, but for some reason it occurred to me to play The Mollusk on my lunch break last night. Really an amazing album, so many unique and memorable songs.

Hey, can someone help me find a song?
I used to listen to a more upbeat version of "Personal Jesus" that was not Depeche mode, and it had what sounded like a gospel choir giving accompanying "ooo"s and "Jesus!". I've actually gotten into the Depeche Mode original after listening to it a few times, but I still want to know what version that was.
I don't even know how to describe this so I'll just paste what the bandcamp page says.
A match made in heaven: Igorrr, well known for the madness of multi-instrumental epic breakcore, pairs up with Ruby My Dear, one of the finest and most imaginative producers of the genre. The result is an intense EP which seamlessly combines these two musicans' own sounds and takes the listener on an impressive trip. Hardcore beats, metal riffs, growls, opera vocals, sub-basses, absurd samples, sudden breaks: all these and more are found in "Maigre", not thrown aimlessly, but carefully wrought in an EP which might advance a whole music scene forward.

Anyone else find find the verse
"Feeling Unkown
And you're all alone Flesh and bone
By the telephone"
The bolded specifically, a little off? I thought for the longest time it was
"bitch and moan
by the telephone"
Or
"gnash and moan
At the telephone"
Because I thought that went better with
"Pick up the receiver
I'll make you a believer"
As part of the invitation

Kvelertak is bound to be loads of fun. LUH are pretty interesting as well- kind of like a drunk incomprehensible maniac yelling over beautiful post-rock.

Oh yeah, seen Kvelertak twice now. Great live band.
jenny lewis and erika foster from Au Revoir Simone have a thing.
the band name is "Nice as Fuck" and that's an amazing band name. the song is pretty damn catchy and i think if you're having a little fading sun jaunt it hits the spot. haven't given the album a full ear but I imagine if the other tracks are as strong as this you wouldn't be remiss to give it a few shuffles on your summer sun playlist.
BUT BUT BUT. In more important news. This. Is the best thing you'll hear all day. For those of you not familiar with Deerhoof. Well. Although they predate Adventure Time the easiest explanation would be imagine if BMO fronted a band. Deerhoof is that band.
They range from noisy, indie, poppy, funky, and whatever else you may want to try to label them with but there's a certain freshness to all of their jams that just make every listen pleasant. So here they are performing one of their own tunes from their june '16 release

Listened to some of this album on the walk home.
It's certainly pleasant, which is natural considering the source, but I can't help feel disappointed by it.
Once, I would have put Jenny Lewis up there with Neko Case and Feist, and I still think she may be the best writer of t hose three. This woman wrote "Spectacular Views" and "A Better Son/Daughter" on the same album. But after Rilo Kiley dissolved, it's been nothing but meh and pleasant. Her first solo album was great, but Jenny and Johnny were pretty boring, so was the Rilo Kiley reunion album, and now this. I just wish she'd get back into something substantial. But if she's having fun writing songs called "Cookie Lips" and putting out albums that sound like glossed-up drum machine garage demos, I'll listen to those, too.
Anyone up for some old (and pretty catchy) lo-fi? These guys really should have gotten some more (at least national) attention back in the 90's imo  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQSai9teKZo

Dillinger and Parkway Drive both put on good performances.
Parkway Drive may be a little too bro metal for ya but if ya have nothing else to go for.
Dillinger is good times though.

Can second Dillinger. I don't know if they're as wild as they used to be but man that's one of the few shows where I was legitimately concerned that the entire building was going to be destroyed. The abundance of people hanging from the rafters probably contributed to that fear though. I think you've got an outdoor show so you're good!

I saw Dillinger Escape Plan at a decent sized club and I thought the balconies were going to collapse.

A room of people filled to capacity with people waiting to see Dillinger, specifically, play live still leads to general madness.

Watching Whitney right now at Pitchfork. They've been solid, but at this point in their set i keep hoping for more trumpet and less vocals.

Would anyone recommend Mick Jenkins? He's the only alternative to Carly Rae Jepsen until Broken Social Scene plays in over an hour. Only vaguely familiar with him, unfortunately.
