The game they talk about seems really awesome, but I think they minimized the emphasis on just how hard it would be for another company to create comparable tech to what's used in Pokemon Go. Ingress was only possible because they had direct access to the Google Maps database. It took them four years of Ingress to build up the data they use to make Pokemon Go work, and even that has some huge gaps in it.
They've also lost 15 million users in the last month.
Yeah I've seen the bad reporting on that.
Here's what's really going on. In a study put together by Bloomberg the number of people who reported that they played Pokemon Go every day decreased. So of course the narrative of every article on the subject is "Pokemon Go loses [Ever increasing number] of players". Seriously, it started with Ars reporting just over 12 million people, and that number has been getting bigger and bigger as it gets re-reported, and everyone is still taking the numbers from the same report.
They didn't lose 12+ million players. All they know for sure is that 10+ million players aren't playing it every day. That still leaves more than 30 million people who are playing it every single day. That's more people who bought the last Call of Duty (22 million) or who have bought Minecraft in it's entire lifetime(24 million).

I guess it ain't Spore but man one gets some Sporesque vibes from this game
Yeah, Hello Games undoubtedly lied about the content of No Man Sky.
Trying to get at if it was done out of intentional desire to mislead or just a small team biting off way more than they can chew... well, without a PI and a psychologist I doubt we'll ever have those answers.
Obviously the fervor aimed at No Man Sky and the people behind it on some parts of the internet are insane. It is, after all, just a videogame. But it's a shining example of why not to pre-order anything. Even knowing that I should never pre-order anything, I still let myself get caught up in hype from time to time. Was letting myself get way too excited about Titanfall 2, for example, but luckily their multiplayer stress test disabused me of those notions.
I've been wanting to talk about so many things about this video, that I kept forgetting to and now they've just all piled up and fuck it here's the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCB91huESZs
Okay, so why am I sharing the third episode of an Uncut LP for the fourth game in a series?
Mainly because it might be one of the best things I've ever seen come out of an LP.
I'mma bury this behind a spoilers video just in case something from Uncharted 4 comes out someone doesn't want to see.
You so clearly get the idea even before this part of the game that 4 is all about celebrating the overall legacy that is Uncharted. This is series that's only been out for less than a decade, but by not doing anything funky with the timeline of the games, you're able to grow with the series and really give a shit about the characters in the game. So too have Naughty Dog, where this scene just feels like "WE FUCKING MADE A GREAT GAME SERIES DIDNT WE?!" all while doing all of this amazing technical work when it comes to facial animations and small details to make the tapestry of the scene complete (they pick up different pieces of individual food every time they use their forks. Elena's look of pure glee when it cuts back after Nate loses.).
Then on top of all the awesome shit the game is doing, Chip and Ironicus find themselves doing a retsuprae, in the middle of their Let'sPlay. So now it's also this weird retrospective about THEIR videos and everything this dumb silly subsection of the internet has managed to do since 2010.
jesus Christ youtube I am never getting this dumb starburst gum
knock it off already
Youtube is the reason I use AdBlock.
I've been manually turning it off to make sure webcomic people get revenue from my visits, but fuck dealing with the same half dozen adverts on every god damn YouTube video.
Actually thinking about this a bit more, Skull Man gets my respect for this. While gamergate has quieted down a bit, Zoe really isn't overstating things when she talks about people who associate/work with her becoming targets and having to warn potential collaborators, and then it jumps from that straight to introducing Cohen by name. That is about the least subtle "come at me bros" I can think of.

It was filmed in 2013 but I'm pretty sure everything they say still applies.
