Fuck. That arm chair and ottoman in the background of Frasier's apartment is really cool!

Also my parents have the same chrome and leather chair that gets replaced by the dad's chair.

    Grant Morrison?

Grant Morrison lost a lot of favor amongst the comic scene about some fucky things about creator's rights in his Supergods book.

    What he say

Paraphrasing here, but there is a lot of downplaying Siegel and Schuster being really fucked over in favor of "well Superman is more important than them" kind of approach. Also the press tour around it had a lot of bragging on his own income in comparison to previous comic creators, and taking aim at Alan Moore for the shit that he does as well.

Also if I recall correctly there was an undercurrent of indie comic creators as highfalutin anti-working class folks.

Which is to say I still like a lot of his work, but I think a lot of his weird arty rockstar thing is very performative and completely at odds with a lot of his actual statements.

morisson actually basically came out and said his entire persona is bullshit in that documentary about him a few years back

it was the only time i ever liked him

also re: prized signed books, i have the mst3k amazing colossal episode guide signed by the entire season 7 crew that i'd kill for

Fraiser also has one of the most satisfying endings to a sitcom ever.

Not quite, from what I recall.
He has a choice between going to a new job or going after his girlfriend. San Fransisco for a new job or Chicago for his girlfriend.

The entire episode is a flashback with him on a plane, it makes it seem like he took his new job.

But then at the end he has arrived in Chicago and he smiles and heads out to face her.

I am actually surprised by this

It really felt like a one season show to me. Not, like, ratings wise but narratively.

Not that I'm complaining, it's fantastic.

I'm down for more master of none, I suppose

first season was never bad, but it did feel very uneven. low points for me were when it felt like Aziz was just trying out his standup on his friends, or the sentimental "parents! golly they've done a lot" type bits. that's probably an uncharitable way for me to frame something that i think is neat he got to do with his actual parents and all, but it felt like I was a fly on the wall for a quiet family moment in the most boring way

I dug plenty of the basic elements there, though--the central relationship, colin salmon, jon benjamin, Aziz's crew (even if it just reminded me of harris wittels' passing at every moment)

The going over to the actor's house to watch him knock over dominoes was the most Harris Wittels thing

I have no problem with Eric Wareheim, but you can really tell that role was supposed to be Harris

Crashing has this weird meta-layer to it, because it's set in the present day with an unestablished Pete Holmes

Who is doing crony work for famous people now that in reality he started out with, like TJ Miller

The two of them were old friends starting comedy in Chicago together, and now there's this show where they're both displaced 10 years in time apart from each other

Maybe there's a sci-fi twist coming where Pete Holmes is unstuck in time and needs to find his constant

You're trying too hard. The show tells you how to feel about it right in the title.

shows about assholes are always challenging. I probably wouldn't have watched all of it if i wasn't on the constant hunt for background TV.

Yeah. And I dunno, I'm really worn out by a lot of modern comedy staples, specifically Apatow stuff. So I dunno what I was expecting there.
