Crashing has this weird meta-layer to it, because it's set in the present day with an unestablished Pete Holmes
Who is doing crony work for famous people now that in reality he started out with, like TJ Miller
The two of them were old friends starting comedy in Chicago together, and now there's this show where they're both displaced 10 years in time apart from each other
Maybe there's a sci-fi twist coming where Pete Holmes is unstuck in time and needs to find his constant
I just think Pete wanted his show to include the real life stuff he went through, with the getting married too young while he was still struggling, the divorce, etc. If you listen to his podcast, that stuff really was huge in his life. I get what you mean, but it's not really that weird to have Pete playing the up and comer with guys like T.J. Miller and Hannibal Burress and what not, because those guys in real life are astronomically more successful in show biz than Pete is.
Sure, but what I'm asking is why is it set in the modern day and not back in 2007 when it actually happened, and including everybody where they're at now except for Pete Holmes, who's 10 years in the past
I'm a sucker for near-past period pieces! Better Call Saul does it pretty well!
I'm guessing Pete didn't want the show to be about coming up alongside his friends, he wanted it to be about him struggling, but he still wanted to have his friends get showcased in the show as the successes they are. For me it's not hard. This is fictional pete holmes, fictional Artie Lange and T.J. Miller, etc. It's not supposed to be exactly what happened in the real world. It just has some people playing versions of themselves.

How many of you lived through Get-R-Done being common slang in your school?
My best friend in junior high had a baseball cap with that slogan. He really idolized Larry, and uh I am really glad we had a falling out in high school.

On James Corden's show, Sir Patrick Stewart said he'd "absolutely be down" to show up on Legion. I wonder if it'll actually happen
I think it will because Xavier is always going to be one of his iconic characters and like Jackman he just wants the character to be in good stuff.
I think people were concerned about "movie star pay" on TV, But FX has multiple shows with Oscar winners/nominees that I don't think that'd be a problem
It might be for a 5 second shot in the finale but still, it'd be awesome
Speaking of missing the boat on stuff...
Whoops I started watching Terrace House.
Goddamn, this show has no right to be this charming! Just saw the "grilled meat" exchange, which was hilarious. I normally hate reality tv...but these Japanese kids are just so darn nice, it's ridiculous.
Everything @Poorochondriac said was true. I am officially sucked in. Sorry it took me so long, I'll never let it happen again.
Friday Night Lights is legit a super good show and is one of the few TV shows that is actually interesting in examining just like, decent humans behaving decently. And it also avoids ever becoming overly saccharine.
Well except for season 2, that gets a bit dumb. It gets better though.
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

I'll never remember his name but the creator is very good at this, he also did parenthood which is also great
I reaaaaaaalllly dislike the obligatory episode of scifi/fantasy shows where all the characters are in a dream/vr/mind fucked psychiatric care ward and can't remember that their real life of magic or powers is real. I dislike the whole tv tropes thing but... I guess this is on trope I could just do without.
Legion started out with that premise so it was ok, they got out of it, right at the beginning, but now they are back in and ehhhhhhh

And the About a Boy TV adaptation, which was also fantastic and was cancelled way too early and will regularly make me cry.
"A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."
"Readers who prefer tension and romance, Maledictions: The Offering, delivers... As serious YA fiction, I’ll give it five stars out of five. As a novel? Four and a half." - Liz Ellor My new novel: Maledictions: The Offering. Now in Paperback!
I thought Peter Berg was credited as the creator of Friday Night Lights. He's the guy I always associated with it. I think the guy who did Parenthood is Jason Katims, who apparently was also a main producer on FNL.

Jason Katims for all intents and purposes was the creator of FNL the show

The sudden accent shift and uncommented costume change is one of those perfect Mr. Show things
The new season wasn't always amazing, but it still had it where it counts.

Better Call Saul is my favorite show on TV right now, but I can't help but resent it a little for preventing another season of With Bob & David
They'll get to it eventually, Netflix has a standing order for it, there's just no time

the finale was fantastic
i'm really gonna miss this show
It was funny
They reminded me of people I know
But does anything ever change? Or does it just continue to be 20 something dudes acting like 17 year olds?

Essentially, he's the Coen Brothers and Jason Katims is Noah Hawley
