Jesus, three weeks? That's terrible. Man, I feel really sorry for this guy. No one is going to watch it and go "oh I guess he didn't have time to prepare", they'll just think he's lazy or he sucks. Professional stuntmen probably couldn't do a good job with choreography they learned 15 fucking minutes ago.
I feel bad for him about that, but it's just plain bad casting. Compare it to Arrow, which was a much less ambitious undertaking and they got the right actor for the role (someone who can actually do the salmon ladder, arguably the most important part of Arrow)
Or even (Arrow spoilers)
Caity Lotz as Black Canary vs Katie Cassidy as Black Canary
It's no way Finn Jones' fault at all, but man why cast him if he's in no way prepared for the role?

Finished the last episode just now. I found the series reasonably entertaining. It helps when you come into the early part seeing the show as deliberately making Danny arrogant and ignorant, rather than trying to portray a perfect saint and failing.
Seeing a white dude act like a human fortune cookie is still a massive tough sell for me.
Honestly all the asian characters are just as badly written

So another interesting piece of info I found while checking up on the every 15 years thing, apparently Finn Jones is also an orphan and identifies with Danny on a personal level.
Kinda explains his defense of the show earlier before it's release.
I got nothing for you now. Try again later.

The show fails on multiple fronts. The ones relevant to this post are the casting and writing.
For me, the best case scenario would've been a AA Iron Fist written non-stereotypically. Second best scenario would've been a white Iron Fist written non-stereotypically.
Instead, we get a white Iron Fist acting like an Asian stereotype. The worst of both worlds.
So if they took that little care with the main protagonist, I would imagine they took as little or less with the actual Asian characters.
I don't think Daredevil was ever as bad as Ironfist. Yeah that second episode hallway fight destroyed him but he took on like a dozen Russian Mobsters there.
Hey you know what I just noticed? This show also kinda makes the Hand look a lot weaker than previous appearances.

Was UMVC3 a lie? This was all I knew about Iron Fist and I thought he was a fucking badass
but this show makes him seem like a guy who's just really good at Kung Fu.

Daredevil does some impressive shit and when he has trouble it's usually because he's fighting like a half a dozen dudes at once or a magical ninja or the Punisher

Where the hell were the magical ninjas?
They do a tournament episode and the best the Hand could offer was sex and two guys who are way to into each other?

Well, it would've been even worse if we had an asian iron fist acting stereotypically
Then it's not just lack of representation that's a problem.

If he can do all that and have the kind of charisma and screen presence he did in his scene in the show, he can hashtag his name all he wants as far as I'm concerned.

They've pretty much turned the Hand into Hydra.
There are different Hand factions. The ones in Iron Fist are apparently the lamest factions.

Like, if it was just one aspect that's bad, I could deal with it. But this is the casting, the writing, the fighting, and the baggage carried by the very concept of the character.

As someone who has lost whatever appreciation he once had for ninjas in black pajamas I prefer Iron Fist's version of The Hand so far

I'm only 4 episodes in but what exactly is the stakes in this show? Like, I'm not sure why I should care about Danny and his struggles.

After some thought, I feel like it was hard to be offended by the casting because the bad writing makes Danny very much seem like a white guy who trained real hard at kung-fu but really, really failed at absorbing any of the rest of the philosophy or culture. Which is probably less offensive than if he had come across as a smoothly zen Asian-martial-arts-master. Granted, this makes him seem like an insufferable douche through this series, but if they can balance his character a bit for the Defenders he might come off a bit better.

So basically, "We accidentally made it less offensive than it could have been."

Also, I've just started watching Daredevil, having watched Luke Cage and now Iron Fist, Madame Gao is hard to figure, Kingpin seems very much like a amateur operator compared to what I've seen of her.

It also can happen after chemo therapy. Losing your hair can definitely cause it.
And pregnancy. My mom had straight hair until she had kids.
I'd never heard of him before, this made me feel like he should be a star. Like, he's fucking magnificent in this.
That's one of the most annoying fight scenes. Why does The Iron Fist have so much trouble with one fucking guy?

I think danny actually did worse here than jon Favreau in iron man 2
I don't mean the actor, I mean the character has a lot of trouble fighting like, random mooks
I liked that in daredevil, but in this it makes no sense

Yeah, I hadn't heard of him either, but after that scene I paused the show to look up who the heck that was because holy crap
Also,

Was the RZA's episode good at least

To be fair neither is he.
The show really is directionless for way too long
