PotU, try using Jigglypuff. Float in the air, away from the stage, charge your rollout attack, then fly at them. Repeat. It's worked for a lot of people, apparently.
I tried using Jigglypuffs roll attack several times, but that didn't work. And since I still don't know how rest works, that didn't help either.
Instead, I always flew away from the stage and then used the b-forward to get back. I could always hit them once or twice without getting any damage and when I landed I had enough time to pick up all the items. Additionally, those idiots always pushed each other off the stage.
So it was actually pretty easy. No chance on beating them with a normal fight, though.
Now I finally completed SSBM and got Final Destination, which is such a boring stage.

I'm on the Bowser/Dedede/Ganon Event.
I seem to be a lot better at this game than Melee. I'm flying through the events, while I still haven't completed about 15 of them in the other game.
I think I beat that event in melee by just using captain falcon a bunch of times and getting good at leaping over the enemies and giving them the knee.
I was kind of disappointed that I didn't unlock anything for finishing all the events. Using Pikachu on the events where you fight X number of characters one after the other is kinda cheap, I've discovered. You can knock out the first two without even having to fight them with his down+b attack if you're quick enough.
But I even think the scrolling DK stage isn't half bad soooo...
I'd be fine with Rumble Falls if it weren't for all the goddamn spikes everywhere that have insane knockback. If they just did damage it'd be cool, but they just have to rocket you across the stage. I hate Jungle Japes too though so I guess I just don't like DK stages?
I need to work on timing, though. It seems like if I'm about to hit someone and they're about to hit me, I'm always the one that gets smacked first.
It's really important with each character to compare all the moves you can do both in the air and on the ground for:
Speed of attack.
Strength of attack.
Area of attack.
Ability to recover.
It's easy to do this, really, just try out every attack variation on the sand bag before the match or in training. Oh, and use the c-stick to get some quick, good attacks in now and then.
After seeing what each move does you'll quickly learn to use each one in different situations. For example, sometimes the best attack to use in the air against someone your jumping forward to is not actually the forward A attack but maybe the up A attack or the neutral A attack and you have to learn to deliberately do these moves instead of the more intuitive version.
I like stages where crazy shit happens like WarioWare and I'm not one of those douche bags who only plays on the generic, flat maps but those fucking scrolling ones piss me off. I hate dying, frequently, because of a map's stupid gimmick.
I'm beginning to think I don't like Pit, he doesn't seem to have much oomph to his hits--bit like Metaknight, it takes good luck to knock someone out of the park without an item

For example, it took me a while to realize that Ganons forward A jump attack isn't that great most of the time and that instead I should let the control stick go slack when I'm jumping at someone and use the neutral jump attack.

Ok so I was playing against my friend's Kirby as Captain Falcon.
I don't understand why anytime I did a Falcon Punch, Falcon Kick he could just hit me out of it
Like I'd be flying downwards from the air Falcon Kick and he'd just jump and punch me.
How come the move doesn't connect?

because Luigi is awesome
Like, some kind of cheat?
You couldn't do it?
I think I managed to do it. But the hours of pain seem to escape me. I'd better check.
You know what I could NEVER beat? Master Hand + Crazy Hand. Shit is just crazy.
EDIT: Campion is right. I used Jigglypuff + Rest.
Occasionally I get my Lucario and the computer's Lucario mixed up, which can cause some problems.
Steam
that shitty hose does no damage, only knockback
here's the fun part, though
when you hit someone with it, it doesn't reset their air jumps
so someone's trying to recover, and you knock them away with an attack, they can just do their recovery move again
but if you hose 'em, they get pushed away from the ledge and can't do a damn thing about it

Ice Climbers melee stage can suck my dick. As can Rumble Falls.

And then theres lag and how you handle that...

I'm beginning to think I don't like Pit, he doesn't seem to have much oomph to his hits--bit like Metaknight, it takes good luck to knock someone out of the park without an item
And then I take Pit, and hi-ya-ya-ya someone from one side to the other.

I've cleared all the Solo Events!

Throwing dudes through the walls is also a perk.
