No, it's a bigoted opinion regardless of who holds it. You're just a fucking retard who seems to enjoy saying the most inflammatory shit possible in order to get a reaction. You contribute nothing to these discussions in any way other than attempting to get people to notice you and your attention whoring antics.

where does mccain stand on civil unions by the way

In 2004, McCain voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment, arguing that each state should be able to choose whether to recognize same-sex marriage.[117][118] He supported the failed 2006 Arizona initiative to ban gay marriage.[119]

In December 2007, McCain said that the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy should remain in place, citing reports from military leaders that "this policy ought to be continued because it's working."[120]

When asked if he supported civil unions of homosexuals, McCain said: "I do not."[121]

if you were going to be fair and not biased you would also have mentioned

McCain joined a movement in the Senate that evolved into a public gesture: As employers, senators would not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. Specifically, 71 senators, McCain among them, signed a statement that pertained to hiring practices on capitol Hill: sexual orientation would not a consideration.

Voted NO on constitutional ban of same-sex marriage.
well hey that ain't bad but that whole "no civil unions" thing is absolute bullshit

    also

Known for his generally conservative voting record, including opposing legalized abortion, McCain has not towed a typical Republican line. For example, he has called the ban on same-sex marriage "un-Republican." The ban "usurps from the states a fundamental authority they have always possessed and imposes a federal remedy for a problem that most states do not believe confronts them," he said in July 2004.

Most of his positions are based around the states rights issue and less so around the same-sex civil unions

if nothing else I can respect the man for holding his own opinions and doing more than toeing the party line and pandering to the religious neoconservatives

However when all is said and done I don't think he's the best candidate because I don't think he necessarily perceives a problem with the way some things are going right now. But it could also be because he doesn't want to alienate his political base any more than he already has.

He should have jumped the republican ship years ago.

he opposed it based on the fact that states shouldn't be forced to recognize it one way or the other

I realize the means may not justify the ends in this case, but that's the way it goes

I would say given his record he is not overtly anti-gay rights. But when it comes down to gay rights or state rights, he sides in the favor of the states ability to make their own decisions in the matter, which they are and have been doing

    Pretty much

also if congress stops attempting to interfere, eventually enough states will have a referendum to allow an amendment to the constitution

It is stupid, but people do care about it, and you can't make them stop caring

But it's part of the original statement that started this whole line of comments. You said "Al Gore and John Kerry too" to the statement about John McCain. John McCain was against a federal bill for gay marriage and a state specific law. He's against it.

Is Al Gore and John Kerry against it as a state specific law? If not, then no...the last 2 guys the Dems put up for president do not share the same platform for gay marriage that Senator Cryptkeeper does.

What you mean is that Democrats support states' rights so that they can allow gay marriage and legalize relatively harmless recreational substances in their states, whereas Republicans support states' rights so that they can dictate to women what they're going to do with their bodies, and make sure the darkies don't get too uppity.

Yes, I can see how that's exactly the same thing. This is totally a valid comparison.
