BATMAN AND THE OUTSIDERS SPECIAL #1
Written by Peter J. Tomasi
Art and cover by Adam Kubert & John Dell
Variant cover by Adam Kubert
Spinning out of “Batman R.I.P.” and DC UNIVERSE: LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT, this special features the birth of a new era for the Outsiders and is a perfect entry point for past and present readers alike. FINAL CRISIS has changed the universe forever and though Batman may be gone, his legacy must endure. Forces are set in motion that give rise to a new team ready to combat the secret evil that the Outsiders were truly formed for all those years ago. Is Geo-Force the best leader? Or will Black Lightning prove to be a challenger? Plus, the introduction of a never-before-seen character important to the Batman mythos!
Writer Peter J. Tomasi (GREEN LANTERN CORPS, NIGHTWING) is joined by Adam Kubert
(DCU: LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT) for this extra-length one-shot spectacular, which is the opening chapter of an epic storyline that will continue within the pages of February’s THE OUTSIDERS #15!
So it's going back to just The Outsiders?

How the fuck does that work? If they've never been seen, how are they important?
I can't help but be interested in seeing heroes from the 52 Earths help out in the Crisis. Really, I just want to see the Charlton/Watchmen Earth's Blue Beetle. The villain books, outside the Grundy book, look kind of weak, and ordinarily I'd be wary of the implications that Prometheus and Deathstroke are going to kill some superheroes, but luckily most of my favorites are already dead, and the rest aren't important enough to be event-worthy deaths. Though I notice Cass Cain is conspicuously absent from the Outsiders cover. It's kind of weird to see DC apparently throwing some weight behind that book with Kubert and Tomasi, given its tumultuous history and mediocre sales. But it'd be cool if Tomasi took over the main book, especially with Creeper on the roster.
The JLA solicit kind of confuses me. Assuming they're talking about the female Dr. Light, she's had her powers back for a long time. If they're talking about the male Dr. Light, well, that death sure didn't last long. And Starbreaker? For reals? The dude got punked by Blue Beetle and Booster Gold. C'moooonnn.
Kind of disappointed the Grundy book being a retelling of his origin. I also wish a Z-List character was getting a one-shot, since I enjoy those stories the most.
That was my first thought. I'm not sure if the woman in the upper right is Katana or Huntress, and who's in the lower left? The black, high collar and blonde hair make me think Black Canary, but it could be Halo, which would make more sense.
What's up with Geo Force's mask? It's usually a Booster Gold-like half-cowl, but look at how his hair's visible on the side of his head. It'd have to be glued to his forehead.

Yeah I thought that was Huntress at first, too. I wouldn't mind her on the team. I think she works better as a "darker" character than she does as the constant-jokes in Birds of Prey

The latest issue of Outsiders made me think (and hope) they were going to change it to Batgirl & The Outsiders, but I'm sure that was its intention
I would love Tomasi on the book (really I'd love him on any book), but I think he's said he's focusing on Nightwing and GLC (although who knows what's up with Nightwing post-RIP)

KAWAI DES, NE?
YES, THEY ARE! CUTE, THAT IS!
Under special arrangement with Hong Kong toymaker Hot Toys, DC Direct is delighted to offer the Batman line of CosBaby mini figures!
Inspired by CosPlay (from the contraction of words “costume play”) – a type of performance art and role play in which the cosplayers meticulously outfit themselves in character costumes from sources such as manga, anime, comics, movies and video games to become the characters they emulate, reenacting scenes from the original sources – these Batman CosBaby mini-figures are the cutest little tykes around!
Featuring eight Batman CosBaby designs: Batman Modern (Black Costume), Batman Classic (Blue Costume), The Joker, Robin, Batgirl, Catwoman, Two-Face and a special Mystery Figure, these mini-figures are the perfect size to collect and display!
Packaged on a 4-color blister card, each fully assembled CosBaby stands approximately 3” tall.

also faces of Evil is probably going to be awful except for the Geoff Johns stuff

oh shit don't tell anjin
have they even done anything with freddy since trials of shazam ended
Isn't January villains' month at DC?
He's gonna be on James Robinson's Justice League
I don't mind Freddie as Shazam. Trials of Shazam was pretty good
if you really care about Kobra or Prometheus
What's wrong with Prometheus? He was created by Morrison so shouldn't you be sucking his dick jake
he really shouldn't have been used beyond that initial JLA story
or at least he should be used in non-dumb ways

also: dang when does James Robinson's Justice League start?
I'm trying to be responsible!
do you see me not posting?
no you don't because you never come here anymore
I'll go do a bunch of coke and run around downtown naked now
calling Superman Beyond #2 Final Crisis #7
I just liked that cover
the typo was the Doug Mahnke is doing the art on FC 7
blank will still be a failure though

Is that Owlman on the right corner?

In what way is it a clusterfuck?
Looks like the 3rd of the Batmen from Morrison's Batman run to me
and it looks like the hand putting the Bat together belongs to Alfred (note the initials on the cufflink)
It COULD be Owlman. Or a New Earth version of the man behind the mask at any rate. There is precedent for Batman having an brother.
