Attention Potential Recruits:
Some of you may know the details of the current crisis, and wish to contribute further to our efforts in service of humanity.
Others among the remainder of you may have heard rumors regarding extraterrestrial incursions.
Given your reputations for reliability, I feel safe in confirming this rumor for those from outside of our organization. For the best part of a year, X-Com has been the only thing between Earth and a number of incredibly dangerous biological weapons, advanced weapon systems, and similar. In the process, we has been recovering and developing technologies easily decades ahead of anywhere else on the planet. Advanced alloys, power sources, etc.
This, obviously, made recovery of downed hostile craft something of a priority. Unfortunately, some of the craft were submerged, requiring an aquatic retrieval team.
That, as you have guessed, is where you come in.
Unfortunately, it was also where a team headed by agent Zombies Tossed My Salad came in, and all contact was lost over a month ago.
Unconfirmed transmissions indicate the possibility of unknown hostile entities, sabotage, and other unpleasant ways to die.
Anyone unwilling to face the possibility of a horrible and agonizing death would be encouraged to leave here.
We need trained submarine pilots, military divers, engineers and specialists in advanced weapon systems and/or xenobiology.
It is only fair to mention that you will not have the amenities you may be accustomed to. All attempts to test plasma and laser weapon systems in aquatic environments resulted in serious injuries or death, and attempts to gain access to Russian underwater weapon systems have met with failure. For the most part, we will be restricted to dart guns, harpoon rifles, and similar. However, a limited number of heavier weapons have became available. If you feel your duties will require specialized equipment, feel free to request it.

Why I fear the ocean.
Hoping to die a horrible underwater death with my hands full of heavy explosives or whatever the underwater equivalent might be.

We have managed to secure the use of a small facility somewhere in the mid Atlantic, and operations should begin shortly.
Several potential adaptations of surface technology for the current investigations have presented themselves as possible avenues of research, and it seems prudent to consult with the field agents before taking further action.
The current proposals seem to be:
Attempting to adapt the knowledge gained from researching alien plasma technology towards gauss weapon systems.
Slight adjustments to our medikits and dive suits to allow treatment of injuries without breaching the dive suits and ensuring the incredibly agonizing death of the patients.
Adjusting motion sensors for aquatic use.

Yeah, good times.
Until we can develop new and more advanced aquatic armor, on par with at least the Personal Armor suits that the X-Com surface teams have used, healing technology is useless, as practically any suit breach will be fatal in these high-pressure environments.
Instead, I suggest we put our research towards killing those goddamn alien bastards, and work on developing some Gauss weapons to put more holes in more bodies!
