So Rankenphile and I have been tossing around the idea for a "Iron Chef" style throwdown.
So we decided we are going to go ahead and do it. Our house is pretty damn huge, so we are fully willing to have people crash here if you decide to visit from far away.

There will be some sort of minimal prize (probably some crappy drawing of a dong saying 'YOU WIN' or something similar) chosen by everyone eating.



TIME: January 10 (Saturday), 2009. 3 pm until whenever
PLACE: Maison Derriere (aka Anjin & my house)
COST: $5 (covers all food and helps anyone cooking recoup a bit of their costs)

    fuck, I'm out of practice ever since we moved

    although I did make about three gallons of ham and bean soup today

    my house still smells amazing

    We have only 1 oven, but we have another "kitchenette" where people can do some prep.
    I'd recommend doing as much prep beforehand (or just show up early to start) to make it easier on us all.
    But this can and will be awesome, by golly.

    I'm considering cooking something. Gotta think of what though, since it'd be a good idea to try to get most of the prep done before hand. I like just improvising and throwing something together from whatever's on hand, though.

    it would be a good idea if we were all very experienced professional chefs with a broad repertoire, but we're all pretty much skilled amateurs who are strong in certain areas and weak in lots of others

    so restricting it by ingredient would make it very likely some of us would end up making something merely tolerable instead of quite tasty
