A dead drive

My girlfriends computer's power supply went out last week, and it seems to have taken the hard drive with it.

I replaced the power supply, but when I have the Sata power connector plugged into the hard drive the computer wont turn on. If the drive isn't connected turns on fine. I tried another sata drive I had and plugged it in and that works fine. So it seems that there is some kind of short in the drive itself. This is a seagate 350 GB drive.

This drive has a lot of important info on it that needs to be recovered.

So do any of you have experience with data recovery services either through work or personal experience? Yes I already know this isn't going to be cheap, but as I said there is info on the drive that is very important and needs to be recovered.

So if any one has had any experience with this type of service any help would be appreciated.

Alternatively if anyone knows if the short can be repaired and getting the drive functional again is possible would be a help as well. If I am lucky and the drive is under some kind of warranty from seagate would they be able to repair it...without wiping the data off the drive?

This is a custom built machine that I put together so there is no warranty on the actual machine itself.

Sig to mucho Grande!
