What was your favorite panel, area, game, booth, etc. of PAX? What'd you think went well?
My favorite panel that I attended was probably Fangamer Stigmata-- or did I only enjoy that because I'm a fan of Earthbound? :P
I loved the console and computer freeplay -- those were organized really well, and had plenty of fun games! The tabletop and handheld areas were good as well, but not as exciting in my opinion.
I really enjoyed playing Brawl, and playing Left4Dead for the first time was great. Some of you guys were really great at Brawl! I also saw somebody who had unbelievable skills with the wiimote and nunchuck... I didn't know that was possible!
My favorite booth was the Privateer Press area. They were really friendly, and the WARMACHINE game seems epic.
Seeing people that I knew online was really neat. Most of the people came from an Earthbound website (starmen.net) and saw a ton of people from the forums, too bad that I knew none of you... I met someone playing Brawl and I think I got the wrong number, probably they're on the forums :P sorry Courteney...
What were your experiences? Favorite stuff, things you'd like to see next year?

Red Steel 2 Live demo - This. Was. Awesome. - I got to talk to Jason Vandenberghe for quite a while, too.
So you want to be a game designer?
Least favorite panel:
Now what? Keeping Community Engaged - This was the only one I left early, I really wish I hadn't gone at all so I could have made it to Medium is: The Story matters
Favorite booth, hmm....
Probably the Intel booth, since I got swag and was able to play Dragon Age without having to wait for two and a half hours.
PAX Prime / PAX Dev 2014
PAX Prime 2013
PAX Prime 2009
That's irony for you.
also lol 6 1337 hats.
As for my favorite moment, it would have to be when my team won the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 tourney. I didn't think I would really stand a chance when we entered, but by some stroke of good fortune, we pulled it off in an incredibly epic final match.
I didn't go to too many panels, but my favorite was probably just the G4TV taping of Feedback or WTF-ever they were calling it. Adam's always a riot Blair was still sauced from Friday, so that was entertaining.
Really enjoyed metroid metal, had breakfast with those guys both mornings and they were a stellar nice group of guys. Other than that, I think what makes Pax, well Pax is the people.
I'll give you an example, one of literally hundreds of tiny moments that made it so much a 'favorite part'.
While waiting for a guildwars 2 book I was sandwiched between a single older woman hyped over getting the book, and a family of four. A couple with two very young girls (turned out they were teachers). Sort of, from an outside perspective a very unlikely conglomerate of people waiting to get an art book (me dressed in all black, 23yr old with Ipod and wearing my Charr t-shirt and spikes). And yet somehow, we had discovered a common passion for arenanet's most excellent game, already what, 5 years old? We chatted about the games and the panels and our favorite parts, all while waiting in line like we were old friends.
Had we known each other a minute prior? Not at all, but the common ground made it so we had something to connect with. That's my favorite part of Pax.

*Tabletop gaming panel with Steve "The Man" Jackson (and others, I appreciated you too)
*An Evening with Scott Kurtz
*Wil Wheaton Awesome hour
*Keynote address by Ron Gilbert
*Intel Prize Patrol (thank you for twitter tracking, it felt like an interactive game)
*Lots of talk all over the place (panels and PAX attendees) about role playing
*Experiencing all this with my buddies
There is more I enjoyed, but those things made PAX awesome for me.
The best gaming panel was hands down the borderlands panel on Friday night where they gave the audience $1200 of Domino's pizza and showed an exclusive video of that little robot from the game going off on a people like christian bale then we got to watch the devs play through the whole demo it was hilarious, entertaining, and really got me excited for the game. Will buy DAY ONE!
Playing tetris in the handheld area!
METROID METAL!
...and the return of hot dog fairy!
My Body Is always Reggie

I'm not going to lie. I almost cried during Wills awesome hour.

1. Brodeo Reunion was hilarious
2. Post-N'gai, Post-EGM Journalism was a great talk
3. Brink was my surprise of show, went from "never heard of it" to "holy shit i need this as soon as it's out"
Did NOT like Getting into the Games Industry the Educated Way (left early), Play Control and Art (left early so I could make Brodeo), and WTF is wrong with game reviews (left early with headache). I liked it, aside from certain audience members. I thought the Sony guy especially was really good. I left as soon as it ended to run to the Story Matters panel. Sadly I didn't get my question in even though the Enforcer cut it off after me because a couple of people tried to get back in the line and the moderator (Adam Sessler) thought the line was too long and ended it early.
2. Thanking them for accepting my buttons and getting the mic at Q&A (I was so starstruck, I don't even remember the answer to the question I asked!)
3. Seeing my button on the giant screens right next to Jerry's face--He actually stuck it on his laniard and wore it! I can die now. . . Buuut I'll stick around for next year.
4. Buttoneering was a freaking blast
Also, the Rock Band Network panel was amazing. I had some great conversations waiting in line for it to start. Then we learned Harmonix are about to give us on a platter, everything that I have wanted for years. Thus, my Rock Band addiction will be fed all the more!
Playing Lego Rock Band and trying out the various new RB peripherals was a lot of fun.
And I loved that *every* *single* other of the 75,000 people there were geeks, dorks and nerds. I kept on looking round and recognising people, before realising that I'd never met them before. You know, that guy with long brown hair, a beard, glasses and a sarcastic t-shirt about science? I must know him! Oh wait... I'm on the wrong continent.
Other notable moments:
Pitch a Game panel: Wow! I wasn't actually wasn't going to go to this panel at first but a friend I met suggested it, it was great! There were so many ideas, it's a shame the beard one didn't get a place but then again I also loved Zombie Carwash and Oregon: Trail of Tears. I'll defiently be going again to this panel next year.
Meeting up with Small Lady, I had no idea I was sitting next to her, she helped me get my forum pass. That completly made my day.
The make a panel was also great! I wasn't worried at all about the technical problems but it made my day when it got started up.
You, sir, are a skeeball champion.
Gryffindor showing up at Barca to a gauntlet of Slytherins yelling, and the look on the face of a local who had absolutely no idea what was going on.
The make-a-strip panel, where everything went wrong and it became the most amazing experience. Jerry showing up 5 minutes after they fixed the technical difficulties, the crowd going crazy in response, was a very special moment.
A dark theatre, the opening music to 2001: A Space Odyssey, stage lights up, and the skee ball machine appears. So. Fucking. Awesome.
The Rooster Teeth panel was fantastic. I don't think I've ever met a group of strangers on stage that seemed like they should be buddies of mine. Completely hilarious.
Honestly, all of the panels I attended were fantastic. I hit up the keynote, the Q&A, the strip drawing, The Guild, and Adventures of Neil. Aside from the occasional creepy question, all of the panels were a blast.
Being new to Live and whatnot, playing Castle Crashers for the first time was awesome. I was sad it was in demo mode, but I could see people hanging on the display for way too long.
Outside of the convention center- happening on a couple of really cool places to eat- We got a real hankering for McDonald's and walked many blocks before finding the closest franchise. On the way we walked past this upscale-ish looking establishment where everyone inside looked so friggin happy to be there and be eating. It could be that we were hung over or it could be that McDonald's seemed so far. (Author's note: Any knowledge of how far something is from the convention center is irrelevant to our struggles. We had one guy with an iPhone and even with a map we took the dumbest possible route EVERY. TIME.) The next day we hit up that restaurant- Urbane. The food and atmosphere and presentation were awesome.
The next night we didn't get to dinner until very late. About... 1 AM. The lady at the desk told us about a place called 13 Coins that is open 24 hours. If you don't mind spending a bit of money (depends on what you get), that place was very cool.
Final bit of awesomeness: The enforcers. Everything I was involved in seemed to run pretty smooth. We had an occasion in the PC freeplay room where we were given a set of three PCs that had just been given to someone else. At one time we had fully five enforcers on their radios, headsets, or whatever trying to find us somewhere to play. They were completely on point and it was very, very cool.
Only down note- We hit the Friday night concerts and with drink in hand I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I was pretty excited about seeing Mr. Coulton and walked into one of the openers with my drink in hand and found myself between sets. My buddies and I went to wander for a bit intending to come back when the headliner was on. When we attempted to walk in with bottles of soda we were told the show was "water only." It seemed arbitrary, but we didn't press for an explanation. We ended up getting tied up in something else and not seeing the Coulton set which disappointed me.
And one of my favorite moments was what looked like Khoo's kids (dunno if he actually has kids but they were asian and VIP and worked as a team in halo 3 so I'm gonna assume they are) playing halo 3 at that astro booth place and some sunday only guys coming up and saying get up already being huge dicks and seeing enforcer's cart them away. That was perfect.
won:
SSD SATA 64gb HDD
p183 computer case
gift card visa - unknown value
alienware tactx keyboard
xbox 360 pro
alienware tactx mouse
Speaking of which, did anyone else get an ECA gift card? mine requires an "activation code" which was not given to me. its supposed to be 4 digits only, so i'm just going to have a script run through all 10 000 possibilities, but if anyone has the actual activation code that would help.
Other than the prizes and free stuff, getting to play some tekken 6 against some tekken pros was my highlight.
I liked the additional space this year. The booths in the area with the windowed ceiling was nice, it made things seem less crowded in that area.
The second Mike & Jerry Q&A was great as expected, except for the two akward times religion was brought up.
The Omeganauts final was good, although it could have been executed better. Obviously the machine breaking is hard to control, but maybe they could have gone with a more reliable Skeeball 2000 machine or something. Additionally, the camera angles sometimes weren't that great, as we'd get 5 or 6 rolls in a row focussing on the player rather than the playfield. I think the biggest problem is that this non-elecontric game didn't have an obvious score visible on screen during most of the competition. It would be awesome if in future years some graphic overlays could be added with the players' current round and game scores.
The booths were generally as expected. Nintendo seemed to be showing off better games with less lines than last year which was nice. I got to share my thoughts with a woman who seemed pretty high up in the Wii DLC foodchain, so hopefully that will go a small way to getting stuff like Cave Story released quicker.
The in-line games were okay, but it was pretty hard to see if you were near the front of the line. If you could put screens on both sides of the queue room next year that would be great.
