Ebay advice !

Ok so i sold my PSP and a bunch of games on ebay a little while ago, shipped it via Paypal in the standard box thinger and all that. I get a message a little while after this asking why the item hasn't arrived, its coming from Canada to the US, which typically takes 2-3 weeks or more. The seller says "You said that it would arrive in 5 days and its not here wtf?" i do not know where in the hell he/she got this info from but i never said anything remotely of the sort. So i reply and say "Well i dont control the postal system, i have no idea where you are getting this from but i never stated anywhere in the auction it would arrive within 5 days, i have absolutely no way of making that kind of guarantee so that statement is completely rediculous". I selected the option in the auction that says "Item ships out after 5 days" because it takes roughly 5 days for the money to clear and be in my account. I am thinking they misread this, so i contacted them and told them to take another look at the auction and explained this to them.

Fast forward to now, i get a negative feedback with this statement: "Seller says item wud be here 5 days, didnt happen" wtf!? I thought i explained this already.

The item sold for over $100, and i sent it on time as per the auction agreement, i held up my end of the trade completely. I want to know is there anything i can do about this? It's completely unwarranted negative feedback that was entirely not my fault, but the buyers own stupidity on not reading it/comprehending what it meant. Anyone who has shipped anything ever knows better than to make a guarantee on somethings arrival date, thats just pure stupid, how in the universe could i possibly control the shipping time to make somethign arrive across the border within 5 days? That is impossible, and i never said anything remotely close to that or even alluded to anything like that.

This is really pissing me off as i sold something that was worth a decent amount to me for a pretty good price and this is how i get treated. Hopefully they dont try to get their money back or something now.

You can reply to the feedback, or report it as feedback abuse.

It's not specifically rulebreaking feedback, so who knows, but if the auction is clearly not stating the item will be with the seller in 5 days they may side with you.

It clearly states in my explaination that i send the item out when the money clears, which is aproximately 5 days. I even selected it in the ebay options ONTOP of explaining it in the write up. I dont know how in the hell they though that meant they would recieve it within 5 days, which is something entirely impossible for me to guarantee.

It just makes me really mad that i get a blemish on what was a 100% perfect feedback record because some retard doesn't know wtf they are reading. Also how do i report it as feedback abuse? I do have all the proof showing the item was sent and recieved (tracking info.) and all that.

This page has a Report button at the bottom that you can click to report a Feedback Abuse violation.

From the guidelines posted there it doesn't look like great odds that you'll get the feedback changed though - you might want to consider offering to mutually withdraw feedback or else simply add your response to it pointing out the error the guy made.

I did post a response to it, but this seems really stupid that i have to deal with this blemish when it wasn't something i did, but the buyers own stupidity.

Nothing you can do, sorry. I worked in an eBay store for two years.

Well, if you don't mind swallowing your pride you can go through dispute resolution with the guy. Most people will agree to remove feedback if you give them a little something and tell them they're completely right. It's rarely true, but my boss told me to fight really hard to remove every negative, and while I worked there we almost did.

This is one of the things thats becoming more flawed with the feedback system ebay has. There has been lots of buyers that are really abusing the system. On the positive side of things most sensible buyers on ebay will read the feedback are presume like most people that the buyer is full of crap. Also having a none perfect feedback score can actually help you if you are selling in the future as there are many sellers that are artificially creating positive feedback using alt. accounts to boost scores.

Btw; did you ship the item with a tracking number at all? If you try and report it without significant proof of shipping and dates you sent the item it might just be ignored.

In future my advise would be once you sold the item, send the buyer a quick email telling them you will ship once payment has been recieved and then send another email when you have shipped the item.

Yeah i have tracking and proof of shipping. It said delivered on the 17th of august, which was ages ago. I have no idea wtf this buyer is thinking. I explained what it meant beforehand and he still refused to listen to me and thought he was right that i said something i never said, basically is what has happened. Why would i even say that it would arrive in 5 days? Thats just...grrr..it makes me mad at how pants on head retarded this dude is and how stubborn he is about it.

    "You said this!"
"No, im pretty sure i said the opposite, see here? Where it says so? I'ts been like that since the beginning"
"Nope, im right, you aren't, negative feedback!"

and not being able to do anything about it is absolutely stupid. Sellers can no longer leave negative feedback which is awful. Though i know why because bad sellers used to leave revenge feedback when they were left negatives (often negatives that were completely valid.). But now there is no seller protection, just buyer. I cant even leave him neutral feedback, only positive. So stupid.

I remember when there were customers buying stuff off my amazon market store and leaving negative feedback, not because of anything I did, but simply because they didn't like the game I sold them and left feedback thinking it was a play to review the game.

One think to check is look at the buyers profile and see if he has a history of negative feedback to sellers, if so could help you're case if you file a complaint to ebay

Sadly this behavior is not limited to eBay or the Web. Dumb customers are everywhere.

Probably hoping for a bribe to remove the feedback. I'd leave it up, as people mentioned, it's better not to have 100%, and anyone who reads that will know he's full of it. Only suggestion would be to use more professional tone and grammar in your replies in the future.

i once got left negative because a person won a game i was selling as well, and wanted me to discount the shipping to $2 (wtf?) isntead of $10 which was what it cost to ship said item to the US. And when i said no he threatened negative.

Luckily i kept the messages and got it removed but still. Now this happens. I dont even sell tons on ebay and this is the second time it's happened to me ever since sellers were barred from leaving any feedback other than positive.
