Hi. I have an HP Laserjet 4600dn connected via ethernet to my router. I'm having trouble getting any of my network PCs to recognize it. I tried updating drivers, and messing with the printer's network settings either gets it an IP address of all 0's or something odd like 169.254.123.218. Any ideas as to where my problem could be? Thanks.
have you tried assigning this printer its own IP address?
Try this...make sure it's something outside of your DHCP scope. That 169.254 address essentially means the printer is unable to get an address from the DHCP server (your router most likely). Try assigning a static to it and see if you can reach it.

Is the DHCP server on your network a dedicated server or are you using the DHCP server built into your router? How many PC's on your network? Do you use DHCP for them or are you manually assigning them IP's?
Are you connecting it to a printer server or does your router have print server functionality?
the 4600dn has a print server/network port built into it.
That reminds me, you should be able to navigate the menus from the console on the printer (Menu/Arrow keys) so you can manually set it to an available IP on your subnet if you want.
