Forgotten Hope strives to blend together both elements of realism and fun for a more enriching take on the Battlefield franchise. They took the Battlefield 1942 engine and gave it localized damage points on tanks, hundreds of period-accurate vehicles and uniforms, something ridiculous like three dozen custom maps and even grass; something EA and Dice claimed they couldn't accurately represent until Battlefield Vietnam! With the added grace and power of the Battlefield 2 engine they've redone the entire game for more of the World War II goodness you've come to expect, this time sporting better graphics and effects, and added features like different ammo types and choo choo trains!
Crawl through foliage that actually works for cover instead of that bullshit they pulled in BF2 where you'd be hiding in grass when a dude 100 yards away who can't even see that grass snipes your ass dead.
Aim down the magnified gunsights of a tank and fire a high explosive shell through a window to take out the occupants - but don't get caught changing rounds when an enemy tank shows up and puts an armor piercing round through your engine block!
Pull up the lovingly detailed 3d ironsights for FH2's historically accurate weaponry and shoot some motherfuckers. Play one of the few games that really does the Tommy Gun justice.

If you're looking for another run-and-gun spray-and-pray type game, look elsewhere. Forgotten Hope rewards teamwork. You can't snipe a dude while running full tilt, nor can you kill tanks with fucking hand grenades. Nor can you all spawn as whatever class is needed most whenever you need it. No more 30+ bazookamen guarding against a single tank, and likewise, a single bazookaman can actually kill a tank because his weapon doesn't have to be nerfed into oblivion for balance reasons - you dig? Oh, and get used to your bolt action rifles, it'll be your primary weapon for most of your time playing and you'll learn to love it - trust me.

I mean, I like realism, but making half the shit that made BF2 such an intuitive game to play the sole domain of a single limited availability class felt like such a fucking step back.
I was done with it when my great-grandfather died with German shrapnel still working its way out of his limbs and I'm twice as done now.
Forgotten hope was bad ass for 1942, I'll have to check this out later today.

Last time I played this it was pretty eh.
Well that's promising. AT in the first release was practically non-existent.
Also the Jackson variants and tank-buster attack planes were fucking awesome. The Typhoons and Mustangs with rockets were the shit.
Army Air Corps is a better name for it anyway.
