Cheapest place to get paper?

I have a friend I'm helping to come up with some flyers for a small business he's starting up, and he's looking for the best deal on paper. There are always local places like Staples and whatnot, but I'm wondering if someone here might know of better deals online that I'm not aware of. I know this is an unusual request, but I figure with all the office workers we have on this forum someone might know.

Any suggestions?

We buy ours from Office Depot, you can usually find 5000 sheets (10 reams) for around $34. They'll run specials on a decently regular basis too, sometimes it's 2 extra reams in a case for $34, sometimes it's 10 reams for $29. Don't know about Staples or other places though. Aside from going to a distributor, and buying a massive amount of paper to get a discount, you probably won't see decent quality paper for less than $30 per 5k sheets.

Your best bet is just to go to a professional printer and let them print it all for you - I know it sounds backwards to pay someone else to do work as a way of saving money, but toner is ALOT cheaper than ink, and you'll get a better quality product. My print shop, including markup and labour costs and all that, can still manage to sell copies for alot cheaper than you could print them yourself.

Let them show you the different types of paper as well, as they will know which types colours show up better on, etc.

I thought about this, but we live in a small town so I don't think we even have a professional print shop. I'll look around, though.

The thing with getting paper online is that you'll have to pay to ship it. And paper is heavy and will cost a lot in shipping expenses.

Your best bet is places like office depot and costco, definitely check for a print shop too.

I'll bet you do. The very small town in Scotland I grew up in had a high street copy shop, a small digital printing company and two litho printing companies and that's just the printing companies I knew of. Ten to twenty years ago, print suppliers were critical to business so the damned things were everywhere. Even in the Internet age, demand for print is still high enough that most printers are still clinging on.

Besides which there will be online print on demand services that can print and ship to your area and still save you money because they will be buying and printing in bulk.

The Staples house brand paper is pretty cheap, and if you join the Staples Rewards program you get 10% back in store credit for all your paper purchases.
