Monopoly City Streets - Reset happened, all your streets are belong to us
Yep, GoogleMaps and Hasbro teamed up to bring the world of property management to your own home town! Buy up property, sabotage enemies properties, negotiate for real life property.
As of this time the server errors have all been fixed and it's running alot smoother than it used to. I'm currently plotting to take over my home town before anyone else can (and I already have some competition). Places like New York and London are already bought up but theres tons of rural places to snatch up.
Its good fun for those at work or can only put in five or ten minutes a day.

bought some streets, got bonuses from chance and got to place a hazard building on someone else's property. amusing game. will have to see what this new version of monopoly they are advertising is all about. I'm always looking for new spin on Monopoly that will cause a fight fight, end marriages, ruin friendships. Game is pure evil.

PAWTUCKET, RI—Bitter, maniacal laughter sounded from the eternal winter of Hasbro CEO Mortimer Z. Hassenfeld's office chambers Monday as yet another relationship fell to the diabolical machinations of his company's popular board game Scrabble.
Hasbro CEO Hassenfeld chuckles bitterly to himself while watching a budding romance succumb to the word game.
Hassenfeld, who has not left the gloomy solitude of the Hasbro Corporation's Dark Tower in more than 40 years, was reportedly most pleased as he surveyed on a bank of TV monitors the doom and destruction dealt by Scrabble to the once-happy couple.
"Ha! Foolish Ron [Jeffers] and Karen [Dreyer]! You really thought your so-called 'courtship' could withstand the divisive power of the almighty Scrabble?" shouted Hassenfeld, who is said to personally inspect each game board to ensure that it contains the correct maddening distribution of vowels, consonants, and blank tiles. "Your fate was sealed, fair Karen, the moment you reached out to gently place the letters A-X-I-O-M down for a triple-word score!"
Added Hassenfeld, "Die, die, fledgling romance! Crumble like so many ashes!"
Sources said that since the vengeful, lovelorn Hassenfeld first began marketing Scrabble under the Hasbro brand, roughly 1,447,055 romantic couplings have been destroyed by the game's devastating ability to turn otherwise felicitous partners into fierce, seething rivals
Although Hasbro is currently the second-largest toy and game manufacturer in the world, sources inside the company claimed that the overwhelming majority of its resources and revenue are now being funneled directly into the cold-hearted Hassenfeld's goal of "total Scrabble-induced obliteration of amorous affection in all its forms."
"Yes, yes, bring out The Official Scrabble Players Dictionary. That should diminish the tension in the room!" said Hassenfeld, who is believed to have never recovered from being left at the altar in 1959 by his high school sweetheart, Ms. Paulette Merriweather. "Oh, what is that you say, Ron? You'd be winning right now if Karen hadn't racked up all her points by adding letters onto words you already created? Well, well, it seems a vile, black cloud of antipathy has cast a pall on our little love nest, now, hasn't it? Ah ha! Delicious."
Hassenfeld reportedly celebrated Scrabble's latest dismantling of young love by pouring himself a glass of 1787 Château Margaux and ordering the immediate distribution of 500,000 new Scrabble boards for use in the sabotage of countless future first dates, romantic weekend getaways, and quiet nights at home.
"Scrabble will do them all a tremendous favor, you see, for love is but a murderous labyrinth of fire, a thorn-lined path I was once fool enough to tread myself," Hassenfeld said as he gazed at the image in a shattered picture frame resting on his desk. "But I soon learned, as all fools must, that, in the game of romance, we will all of us be forever a few letters short of spelling H-A-P-P-I-N-E-S-S."
Added Hassenfeld, "You may shake the tiles as hard as you like, but nothing will ever change that fact."
Representatives for Hassenfeld claimed that the executive's younger, kinder-hearted self may still in fact be alive somewhere within him, buried beneath 50 years of pain, regret, and heartache. However, the chances of that Hassenfeld ever returning, sources said, are "about as unlikely as landing three power tiles on three separate triple-letter bonuses."
"It's strange, but in a way, I almost…pity them," announced Hassenfeld, his voice a distant echo, as if addressing another time and place altogether. "Then again, why should they know pleasure, when those who truly deserve it cannot?"
I used 2 accounts to buy up my neighborhood, I'll sell it all to one account later when I get the money. I was disappointed to find that property had a minimum selling price
2 kinda major streets near me were still unowned but all the good downtown stuff is taken
Someone demolited one of my houses, i've found out where his properties are. As soon as I get the right chance card i'm going to take his shit down. Also waiting on midnight so I can get my next pay and start developing, maybe buy a few more streets.

I shall establish an empire in my hometown! Surprisingly, there are two people who've bought stuff around there. But all they've bought are the suburbs, leaving the entire downtown area up for grabs

Im having stiff competition from a couple of neighbours. Theres a rule in the game that if you put an offer in and if after 7 days the recipiant hasn't replied then you automatically get the offer accepted. Good way to stop people buying then abandoning the game.
I'm hoping the people in my town will get bored in a couple of days, i am far more patient than the average person...

also a good tip is to buy just a no name road somewhere and build. you get ALOT more money from rent than you do having streets. good way to generate income in the beginning as long as people don't fuck with you. It does seem though that each buildings rent is less the more buildings you have on a street. So a few buildings on a street, new street, new buildings rinse repeat.
There was this epicly long 1,000,000 road right by where I live.
Grabbed it. Now to use it as the financial base for my empire.
I grabbed the one near me.
Now it's covered in little houses and has two stadiums.
In the suburbs of Portland.

This is such a cool idea. I've bought up a bunch of little side streets, an epic million dollar street, and a half-million dollar street all in downtown Decatur. I filled up the epic street with buildings and will be making somewhere approaching 425K a day from it alone. I love this already.
I discovered this game and bought some streets around where I live. It seems like a neat game, but the website and loading of everything is painfully slow.
My in-game name is Peewi.
EDIT: Reading their blog. Apparently they're aware of the problems and intend to restart the game once they're satisfied with the game's performance.
Is there a reason to get one huge street instead of a ton of smaller streets?
It's worth more in terms of rent. I bought a street a friend lives on but only built a house on it out of principle. It was so small that it only generates 7k or so rent daily. In contrast, a house on a larger street will recoup its cost within a day or two.
I basically bought a few streets near my home and that friends live on. And dumped prisons and sewers on major roads not owned by me.
If I read the FAQ correctly, aside from being able to fit more buildings on a long street, some Chance cards let you build bonus structures that protect all the buildings on a street from being demolished. So there's that.
So is the whole point of this game to construct a lot of buildings?

Example:
On the tiny cul de sac I own, the smallest house earns $6k a day. On the huge street I own, it earns $50k.

depending on the town you could quite possibly own the entire town.

Is the local leaderboards not working? It shows me as the only one, even though I found someone else with the exact same location listed on his profile as me (UnknownHerlev, Hovedstaden, Danmark). The national leaderboards seem to work fine, though.
I'm not too late! It seems I only have 2 competitors for my little area, and the fools let me snap up the largest street in the area. I've already slapped down a fortress and a sentinel, plus a nifty little stadium that will secure the safety of that street forever.
Rent value: 775,000
I will own this place.
Edit: Make that one competitor. One built on just one small unprotected road, got hazarded and is probably broke.

You can put more buildings on the big streets, which earn more money than streets, and every building you buy is a chance for a Chance card.
Although I did get nailed for about 300k from a couple bad Chance cards.

Also I bought Ed Babe Gomez Avenue and will never let it go.
Also it IDs parts of Omaha as being in New England for no particular reason.
My empire has just begun.
edit: I sabotaged somebody I thought was local.. except it turns out they're in Australia. WTF?
Every single one of his properties were already sabotaged.
Somehow I managed to buy the same street twice.
Yeh i got someone close to me who seems to originate from Cardiff. How dare he come into MY town and claim what isn't his. A pox on him and his kind!

One of the large streets in my area that I was able to buy only allows development on like half of it
