OK so I decided I would finally get around to upgrading my iPhone firmware to 3.0.1. (Cue ominous music). I made sure to back up the data, then hit shift-'restore' to select the new firmware file. Waited for it to do everything, went to the 'restore from backup' menu, clicked my old phone name, waited for the bar to scroll, and... nothing happened! No contacts/photos/anything on the phone.
Is there anywhere on my HD I can look for it? Or am I just plain fucked? Thanks H/A

I don't know man, because when upgrading the software will do the back up for you. So I'm betting when you did your upgrade it took the image of the freshly restored phone with no data and made it your new back up.
And I dunno if iTunes stores more then one backup file. Shitty.

haha I am sure you are right, that's really stupid! you would think apple would make it hard to delete everything from your phone, instead of it only taking one click. but that turned out not to be right. anyone have a better idea?
Have you checked their knowledge base? It is pretty definitive. If there's a solution, it'll have it. If there isn't a solution, it'll break the news with cold-hearted indifference.
