I beat all the absolute Power campaigns. Cash for Bonkers was the one I had to try like three separate times to get it right.

It's easily the hardest one I've played yet.

I kind of feel like doing tourism was cheating, really.

These absolute power missions really bump up the hurricanes, earthquakes, and rebels. Certainly keeps things interesting.

Well I beat the last of the Absolute Power missions. They're definitely tougher than the base game. I like it though.

Looks like another expansion with the existing engine. "Tropico 4" to justify a $50 price tag?

Tropico 3 wasn't hard to find on sale, even soon after its release.

But let it be good this time!

Seriously, I loved the concept but the sheer randomness of when your pirate ships would get sunk and leave you without income for long stretches of time sucked.

I found that tilting it doesn't work very well, and once I started jerking it, I got much better results.

Yeah, it was definitely flawed. The main problem was not having enough to do, I think, and it didn't offer you the same variety of approaches to success that "normal" Tropico does.

But I enjoyed the hell out of the period where I didn't understand it well enough to know everything that was wrong with it. My immediate thought was "I hope they try this again and do a better job".

I've been debating on purchasing this, but would it be better to play the original Tropico 1 and then wait for Tropico 4?

Buy Tropico 3 and Absolute power the next time they go on sale. They are fantastic.

Tropico 3 is pretty much Tropico in a shinier engine. It's a little easier to play, as well. In my opinion, anyway.

I wonder if I'll still need a city building game by 2011. We'll see. Sounds good though.

I played the Tropico 3 demo, it was awesome. I decided to download Tropico 1 and 2 though, and wait for Tropico 3's price to drop.

Hey Tropicans, I want to be El presidente bob, but im hitting some problems in absolute power

It is the campaign where you are a protectorate of the carribean (IE tourism, industry, and govt buildings are all turned off).
Im taking industry as my first unlock and paying the 20k instead of waiting a few years for the king to review my options, I seem to make it into the 70s fine, building 1 or 2 rum distilleries (lots of sugar here) a weapons manufactureing building, even doing the god awful furniture building for diversity, eventually opened up a cannery, and towards the end built my jewelry store, before i set down my gold mine), But my economy starts to slide it isnt for a lack of teamsters, as I have 2 and about 5 garages (its a big map). But i go from making 20-40k a 2 or so times a year down to 15-20k 1x a year and i dont have resources sitting or waiting (except for the jewelry store waiting for gold and the furniture store waiting for lumber (yes i have 2 tree cutty places 1 lumbermill and 1 furniture factory). It just seems that the entire economy starts to slide for absolutely no reason... any ideas what im doing wrong here, the only time ive ever really had lots of money sitting around was on the toady mission and i had waaaaay more farms and alot fewer industries (except there i had oil refinery and 2 wells)
