Oh boy. I'm glad I upgraded my PC a few months ago!
The
PC is getting
Batman Arkham Asylum, Red Faction Guerilla, Resident Evil 5, as well as
NFS Shift.
The
Nintendo DS is also getting at least 2 really awesome games:
Scribblenauts and Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story.Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 comes out on every platform.
NHL 2k10 comes out on all the home consoles.
NHL 10 on some of them.
Need for Speed Shift comes out for the
consoles, PC, and PSP.
The game
Wet comes out for
PS3 and 360. I don't know much about it except that it looks pretty cool, so I'll have to find out more when I get a chance.
the
PS3 and 360 also get the definitive classic Pinball simulation game,
Pinball Hall of Fame: Williams Collection. This is already out on the Wii and everyone says that it's just about the greatest pinball game available this generation. Highly recommended for pinball fans.
Whoo... the fall crush continues...

I really want Resi5. The game benchmark ran like a dream with maxed out settings at 1680x1050... But I want to get Dead Space first!
But I also need Batman AA! I played the demo and the demo was practically GOTY material!
Meanwhile Red Faction Guerilla is also supposed to be one of the most fun FPS's recently released... another GOTY contender apparently...
But I still haven't had a chance to buy Muramasa! Or get Contra ReBirth! Or WSR, or Tiger10, or Beatles RB!
But I HAVE TO GET SCRIBBLENAUTS one way or the other! But I haven't had a chance to get Prof Layton either!
arghhhh i'm drowning.....

I'd start with Muramasa out of that list, but it's a really tough call.

I played it this past week, we had it on order from Gamefly. It was... alright. My roomie beat it in two days.
It's now the part of the year where I must make some very, very hard choices. I already have a backlog long enough to require a minor to moderate miracle to clear through most of it.
But...
Scribblenauts.
Yeah I'm really excited about Muramasa. It sounds like it's right up my alley, and it seems to be something fresh compared to what I've played recently. So I'm getting it for sure. I'm also definitely getting Scribblenauts ASAP.
Some people around here consider it a potential game of the year. I think it sounds good but it's lower on my to-buy priority list than other games this year.

So yeah, it's coming out later, but it still sounds like a pretty good deal.

Oh hey, really? I didn't see the story much nor any online play. But it has purposeful limited sandbox elements, which was cool. And gaining upgrades was alright.
I dunno. I think maybe it was the setting / story of the game. Guerrilla warfare on Mars. Cool but it didn't hook me and keep me in.
And if you get it from steam before it comes out, you get the first two Red faction games for free
I have no idea personally. I haven't played it yet. But I have heard at least a couple of people around here talk about it like it's the best thing ever. I don't know what aspects of the game they were referring to specifically, or the game as a whole, or what.
I enjoyed the first RF, and I like the concept. After I get my high priority games I'll consider getting RF:G if I have time and money...... but by then we'll probably be steeped in the Fall lineup followed by the Spring '10 crush.....

Anyone getting the Williams Collection? Everyone who enjoys pinball loves the version (Wii) that's out now, so a lot of pinball fans with 360/PS3 have been looking forward to it.

On the other hand you don't get to see if it got a shitty port first.
The buy now thing works for Impulse too, BTW.
Well the reviews don't mention any "problems" with the game being a port.

It looks like Max Payne meets Kill Bill, essentially.
The style looks great but until I read some reviews and see more gameplay I'm not sure I would be 100% sold on it; meaning it looks good based on what little I've seen but without knowing and seeing more that's not enough to go by.
Still the concept is great so I guess we'll have to wait and find out what the reviews talk about.

I played the demo at E3 and it was very solid. Not the sort of game that I personally would buy at full price, but it was a very well-done shooter with boatloads of style and a really clever control scheme.
Though I guess that's good, my wallet deserves a break before October.
expensive week
Not at all.
You can play single player, and essentially have a pack mule followingyou around. But the two player co-op works very well and doesn't feel forced.
It's the opposite.
Co-op is pretty much the only way to play it. They sadly pretty much killed any good single-player offering.
That's what I was afraid of.
I said this earlier, but I would like it if they revived the Outbreak series (who had online for the PS2 anyways?) and used that for their multiplayer RE games while using the regular for the single player experiences.
I found singleplayer to be fine myself. The game was fun and co-op is excellent but you dont HAVE to play co-op.
Also, I dont know, I got that tv like I posted in the Wet thread and Im not sure if I can spend the money on it. I MIGHT because honestly. I have a soft spot for games that are awesome. And man is the game damn fun. The demo was excellent. Wanna play the full game. OH! I know. Im cancelling my order for Aion so Ill just put it on Wet! Bam. There we go. Reserve and its only 50 dollars so 10 bucks off. It works perfectly.
In a way it's like buying M&L and then getting Scribblenauts for $5.

I loved RE5 and I played it single the entire way through on Normal, and I'm about a third of the way through a Hard mode run. The co-op partner thing didn't really change too much for me; it's definitely even far more on the action end of the spectrum instead of survival horror than RE4 was, but if you liked the gameplay of RE4 you'll still find it in RE5. The real-time inventory management and weapon swapping was really cool and made for some tense moments, and keeping all of your equipment and items for subsequent playthrough, plus being able to go back to earlier chapters for speed runs or to raise more cash made it feel more RPG-ish.
Wet: I'd written it off entirely based on what I'd read about it, from the name (yes I know it's about 'wetwork', killing people, but you try telling me that 'A2M' aren't playing up the sexuality of the game and I will punch you in your dirty lying whore mouth) and lead character, and what sounded like uninspiring gameplay, it sounded like easily-dismissable nerdbait.
Frustratingly, the demo is actually kinda fun. It's basically what would happen if the Stranglehold team oversaw development of Kill Bill: The Game.
