Help Me Improve my Wireless signal

Hello. I just moved into my new place on the second floor, but i don't get a great wireless signal from my room.
He keeps his linksys wrt54g router on the first floor in his room.
Could you guys please share with me your knowledge on either improving or amplifying the signal?
Is it better to get a new router or try to connect the existing one to a wireless bridge so I can have better signal in my room?
I also want to set up my xbox 360 and ps3 for internet access in my room
