[spoiler:560035396c]Seriously, stop running around so I can stab you! Plus, it didn't help that this was the first one I got stuck on. I tried jumping up the front of the fire pedestals, and just dismissed jumping on them altogether. Wasted about half an hour being gored before I tried going up the side. Argh. Loved the mechanic of getting him off the cliff, though, right out of left field.[/spoiler:560035396c]
I can understand gripes with the camera, but I've played so many platformers that adjusting to the camera is nearly second nature. Other than that, this game most likely (I haven't finished it yet) will end up being near the top of my favorite games. Mostly, I just wanted to thank this thread for reminding me of this game. I had no idea what I was missing.
Oh, and anyone saying that the controls are horrible, or that it's too hard to find the colossi, have you thought of taking up cross-stitch? It doesn't look like viedogaming is gonna pan out for you.
[spoiler:560035396c](I realize it may be a preference thing, I just felt like starting a fight)[/spoiler:560035396c]
[realspoiler:3332819293]I hadn't thought of that. I guess that's why people bring the horned boys to the castle, because they descend from dormin, and they give them to the queen, who absorbs them.
but I always thought the queen's plot to live longer was to take over the girl's body in ICO. so what was she for then?[/realspoiler:3332819293]
[realspoiler:0b0a6b398a]Now, this isn't canon at all, but my favourite explanation of the link between SotC and Ico is that SotC is the legend of the origin of the horned boys.[/realspoiler:0b0a6b398a]
Though I've never seen any interview where Ueda specifically said that. Link, anyone? I'm not doubting it or finding fault with it, I've just never seen it categorically stated, and he has said he's not really bothered about story - SotC just began with the idea of having a tiny guy fight very, very big enemies, nothing more. (Although off the top of my head I can't give a source for that, so... )
Read my book. (It has a robot in it.)
[realspoiler:c8e9d7929b]The Queen's plot was to take over the girl's body (I think it was her daughter, not sure), but the power to do so was derived from the horned boys. I think all of the Queen's power might be derived from Dormin's fragments in the horned boys, seeing as how her minions and her attacks are all shadow magic.[/realspoiler:c8e9d7929b]

Found the link on the SOTC wiki, which contains hella spoilers.
WHY HELLO THAR!
Best. Fight. Ever.
Also, here's a link to some unused colossi.
EDIT: This is the one I most regret seeing canned:
aww, man... I could just see that colossi..shoot it at the bottom of it's head...shimmy up the legs... man.
at least they kept that flying serpent fight, hmm? I finally finished that one- turns out that the camera kept making me think I was near when I was too far out from the flippers. When I finally got it, I felt like something out of those cowboy movies where they jump from a horse to a moving train.
I would buy 100 copies of said remake, fill up a kiddie pool and swim around in them.

My favorite colossus so far has to be [spoiler:fd644003e8] Avion. When you jump on to him as he flies at you... pure awesome. [/spoiler:fd644003e8]
Also... [spoiler:fd644003e8] without reading a guide or a how-to, how long did it take everyone to figure out how to kill the "sand snake", a.k.a. colossus #10? I must have been running around and standing on rock formations forever before I finally decided to get on my horse and try something else. Thanks alot, disembodied voice, for helping me out on that one. Bastard. [/spoiler:fd644003e8]
[spoiler:8bdcb46da5]Mostly because I had seen Tremors.[/spoiler:8bdcb46da5]
[spoiler:1eb4e69a9b] Its eyes did not show as weak spots when the sword was shined on them; I was young and foolish, so I trusted that they were not, in fact, weak spots.[/spoiler:1eb4e69a9b]
I thought it was so obvious
disembodied voice can go fuck themself in it's paradoxical asshole(s?).
thanks for helping me with number 11, and number 15, and number 14, because they were real fucking simple to work out once you told me 'to use the collosus's anger against it'.
yeah, it took me a while to work out 11- mainly because I kept waiting for it to come up and expose it's weakpoint or something
[spoiler:666f597a41]I didn't know you had to get the Colossi to strike the stone platform in order to break it's armor and allow you to climb it further.
So when it struck the ground with it's weapon and got stuck, I assumed you only had to climb it.[/spoiler:666f597a41]
But it was near impossible to reach it's weakpoint without doing the correct trick, leaving me to assume I wasn't good enough at climbing.
All the other Colossi were not as difficult because the game would give hints to defeate them way too soon. If there were an option to turn the hints off, I would have done it.
I didn't know either, it just happened by pure chance.
[spoiler:42cfa64886]The game seldom requires you to use the bow while fighting colossi, and I didn't think about shooting his shoulder to make him grab it in pain while I went along for a ride.[/spoiler:42cfa64886]
Funny thing is, you can make a jump by pure luck and not have to do that. I believe that's how I beat him the first time.
I can't remember which # it is, but the one where you
[spoiler:b436a70f5f]get on his head and steer him around the lake by whacking the stone things so that you can jump onto the roofs of the little temples and then make him expose his weak spot[/spoiler:b436a70f5f]
I got him down to around half health before I realized you had any control over where he moved, just by getting on his head and then being ridiculously patient.
That one took me about 2 hours
I only realised that when I was trying to do the time attack after beating the game. I just couldn't for the life of me get it within time, so I looked online.
Jesus, I felt like an idiot.
hahha, me too. But it took me that long to get on him.
almost overlooked this. shit, that would be awesome. they both have half a weakpoint, and you can only attack them when they come together...
online multiplayer with voice distance chat.
"I can't climb up his arm there's this huge stone thing there!"
"What are you talking about? Just climb up the arm!"
"I can't, damn you!"
"Why are we yelling!"
"AAAAAAAAAA"
"Man. That's pretty dumb."
[spoiler:0c456491cb]Like I'll get onto one of the islands and wait for him to open up and... nothing. The stupid fuck just stares at me. I stand out in the open. Nothing. I shoot him in the face. Nothing. And then I fail again.[/spoiler:0c456491cb]
ditto. I just jumped and managed to grab on right under his face.
I had the most trouble with
[spoiler:afe8bd5bed]
Thirteen? The second small one, where you have to climb the towers. I missed the first tower, and couldn't figure out what the hell the "voice" was telling me to do.
