"Alight. Fifty gold it is." Edwort coins out the coins and pushes them into the pile in the center of the table. He does not appear to be very impressed with your roll.

He warms the dice in his hands before rolling them out on the table. 1,1,4,5,5,6.

"bah. Looks like you win. Care to try again? 100 gold is my bet."

Kel drained the rest of the tankard, placing it back on the table. "Maybe he requires a more delicate touch, such as mine." He said with a smile to Bufreut. "Anyone feel like coming along for a chat?" He said looking from one companion to another.
I'm heading to bed, so if anyone wants to accompany me up, Wembley or anyone else, feel free. Just don't want to make you/Ill wait on me for describing where/who Retomuri is.

Taking the steps two at a time, Kel stepped into the fading sunlight. Was a beautiful time of day to be up in the air. Spotting Ermize relaxing, Kel started towards him. "Ermize, sorry to disturb you." He said loudly, glancing at a nearby member of the crew who was also on deck. "Have to seen a man named Retomuri? We're supposed to talk to him about something." He said with a sincere smile, raising his eyebrows at the crew member, as if asking him the same question.

    "Oh aye, 100 it tis."

Grend grabbed up the dice and rolled them out onto the table.

1,3,5,5,6,6. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Grend shrugged, drank and motioned for the other man to go.

Edwort gives the dice a good shake before throwing them out on the table.

    4,4,2,2,6,4.

"Full house!" He pulls the 100 gold over to his end of the table happy to have won back his lost bet from the first round. "Care to go again?"

"I could stand to see the view from the top deck again." Rolen turned and followed Kel up the stairs. When he reached the top, Rolen paused momentarily to scan the horizon before continuing to where Kel and Ermize were talking.

    "It's a great view isn't it, Ermize"

I'm enjoying how things are going, ill. I have no issues with proceeding as we have been thusfar, assuming we're not horribly off base and will never progress doing what we currently are doing.

    Ermize nods amiably to Rolen.

"It's a magnificent view though in all honesty I prefer to have my two feet on land. Though I couldn't pass on the opportunity, it's not often you find work on a flying ship."

and with that, he nods to himself, pulls his hat over his face and seems to doze off.

There is a blond woman looking out to the horizon in the front of the ship. You can see a group of three people chatting on the next section of the deck to the rear of the Casino Royal. Another man stands alone on the very back level. You can't be certain which is Retomuri, but if he is as antisocial as Bufreut claimed then he's probably the guy all the way in the back of the ship.

Just as you spot Retomuri you can hear the tolling of a bell. You hear a female voice quite loud and clearly.

"We approach the gate Salvidor, please report to the bridge."

"HAH! AH-HAA!" Cries Salvidor, tossing his empty martini glass over the railing of the top deck. He dashes down the stairwell and heads to the front of the ship. Bufreut steps aside and opens the bridge door for Mr. Dali.

The group gathers on the top deck as Bufreut orders (unless one or two of you specifically want to remain in the main deck). The sun has sunk below the horizon. It has become very dark quite suddenly. You can't believe it at first but you look and look and cannot see star or moon. Instead a murky darkness all around, dim auras of light can be seen in the distance as if very, very far away.

The auras vary in color you can see one off above you that is the color of sand, another off to the starboard side of the ship you see a vivid green, and nearest of the three a dark red color like an autumn sunset. You can't say how but the ship seems to orient toward this red aura.

Everyone on board has stopped what they are doing except Lily who performs a feat of magic to trick the mind into creating music for other instruments to accompany her in the minds of those onboard. Her piano is not loud but it manages to carry throughout the entire ship.

Rolen, as your surroundings darkened Retomuri has been out of your range of vision. There are very few sunrods on the top deck. On instinct you turn to get another look. You still can't see him. You do however see something very dark dropping from the back side of the hot-air ballon above and to the back of the ship.

Suddenly the ship sways as if something heavy has landed on the back of the ship. You feel it sway back as if the weight has been lifted.

Everyone onboard is silent, transfixed by the the changed surroundings. They stand huddled around the portholes in the main deck or by the rails above.

As the ship shudders beneath him, Aduan, having reported to the upper deck, stumbles a bit, then catches his feet.

    Just a precaution indeed

Slipping his shield off his back and readying his whip, he takes a position between the group and the location of the apparent impact, peering into the gloom.

" 'We will be flying into a mushroom trip and may be attacked in the dark by a monster from the sky' is the sort of thing one often mentions during the negotiation phase of a contract, Mr. Dali. Care to shed any light on this?"

    alright i'll get up

Ermize is awakened by the shudder of the deck beneath him. Laying still and with his hat still pulled over his eyes, he attempts to listen and discern what is happening without giving away the fact that he's woken.
so i'll do 2 checks, one perception if I can tell the general mass of what landed on the ship (one big thump or a bunch of thumps etc) and then a general stealth check.

    lol

Mr Dali is in the bridge. The group is currently on the lookout station in the middle of the top deck.

Aduan - You think you can see the end of a tail slip over the rail of the ship. You can't see Retomuri anywhere.

Ermize - That was definitely one big thing.

Group - Above the enchanted music you can hear.... "ERXIIIIIIIEEESSSSSSHHHHHH."

Ermize, Rolan, and Rendar - Just after the scream you feel yourselves gripped with terrible fear which quickly boils over into a very real, very intense panic. ( I'll leave it to you to describe what your characters do.)

Group - You see everyone left on the top deck now running around in a state of total panic. Blind fear has them dashing in random directions, on their knees crying for mercy, or petrified in complete shock.

"Did anyone else see that? Avandra only knows what it was. Whatever it was, though, it was big." Rolen readies his bow while peering into the darkness just as a loud scream pierces the night.

    "What the..."

For a brief time, Rolen is unable to do anything but stare into the darkness at the back end of the ship, mouth agape, ready to bolt from the unseen monstrosity that lurks in the shadow.

"This can't be in the job description. Orcs, goblins, kobolds, and various manner of beastly creatures are all in there, but I'm fairly certain it said nothing about shadowy horrors from beyond this realm. I would not say no to a tactical retreat if someone were to suggest it."

I'm going to roll perception for what I can see in the dark with my low light vision. Probably won't make a difference but it couldn't hurt. If it makes a difference thematically, this occurs before the scream that precedes Rolen's pants-wetting.

As the ship rocks from the massive... something landing on it, Kel spins, cursing and staring uselessly into the darkness. He turns around just in time to stumble into some other people in the group as the weight is lifted and the ship rocks and jumps, rerighting itself.

"What in the seven hells is going on here." He exclaimed, voice cracking in fear. The only positive thing that he could see was that he was surrounded by some hardy figures, no doubt more tempting to taste than a simple bard.

That and hopefully if it was a creature it would pick of solitary people scrambling in fear on the deck, rather than attack a group all at once. It would at least give them some time to make a plan of some sort. "Maybe we should give it a minute before we head below deck, if only to s-" Kel stopped midsentence, bouncing forward. A creak of the deck below had startled him into Rolen. "Whatthehellwasthat" He stammered out, before seeing it was just a hiding crew member.

"Someone needs to turn this infernal music off..." He muttered to himself, embarrassed but no less terrified for the event.

"Guess I'll have to win my money back later." Grend grumbled in reply, headed above deck, taking his axe with him. He gripped it tightly as colors whirled around in the air and then the ship shuddered.

Grend glanced back. Was there something there? Fear slowly gripped him until it held him strong. With a dwarven warcry, his scale armor suddenly appeared on him. It didn't help though, as the fear quickly escalated into panic. His knees felt weak, and could no longer hold him up, as he fell to the floor, shaking.

No problem cheese. If need be I'll Control your character for a turn or two. No you shouldn't need to put all the details in unless you took powers from DDI's power cards.

Wembley, This adventure settles nicely at the amount of encounters it will take to level you to 5. However, after the adventure this will (probably) be finished. So don't bother tracking EXP. And actually that low light vision will help a bit. There are some pretty large wooden crates blocking your view, but you are pretty sure you can see a humanoid figure riding up off the deck on a winged creature with a large tail. It's a bit of a guess at this point but you think what you are looking at is a dragon.

No sooner had Rendar left the the chapel and scaled the stairs to the top deck when the piano music dies abruptly and a human scream is heard from down the hall. You can hear Cid's voice... "Oh god! NO! NO no! Lily! LIIIIIIIIIILYYYYY!"

Im about to head into work here so I'll go ahead and post this now.

When you come to the chapel door you can see Cid holding on to Lily's leg trying disparately not to let go. Lily, here body encased in what looks like spider webbing, is being hoisted up through a hole in the roof. Cid's got tears running down his cheeks and he appears to be in quite a state of shock. He keeps yelling and ranting and tugging at Lily's leg. Just as you rush over to help him he loses his grip and Lily disappears up through the ceiling.

"NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" Cid falls to his knees weeping, banging his fists on the floor.

Arion dashs out of the bedroom and seeks out Ermize.

Ermize clambers to his feet and pulls his hat back into position. Rubbing his eyes, he looks up at the explosion of colors in the surrounding sky. The wonderment turns into panic as a cold grip of fear washes over him. He quickly shakes it off and regains his composure.

"Cid's wife?" The news from Rendar was enough to clear Rolen's fears away. You fool. You let your imagination get the best of you. You saw the tail and wings. It's probably a dragon, and that was definitely something humanoid riding on it.

"I saw something in the back. A humanoid riding something with wings, maybe a dragon. I'm not sure."

Rolen readied his bow once more, taking a few steps forward before glancing back at Rendar and the rest of his companions, his expression now one of calm determination.

"If she's anywhere on this ship, she's back there."

Everything is quiet now except for Cid's moaning and wailing. A crowd of people has gathered around the chapel doors staring grimly at poor Cid. Rendar pushes through them as he runs back up toward the group.

    "By the gods!!! AAHH-"

Kel you can't be sure as you trust your eyes at the moment but you are reasonably sure you just watched two dog sized spiders scaling the masthead up towards the ballon above.

"We're under attack! Quickly Sancho! We must help the others!"

"But Sire, we haven't got our weapons!"

"G'ahhhhh! Don, heeelp!" The sound of snapping bones and gushing entrails spurs the people onboard the ship to action. Mary, hiking up her dress a bit, flies down from the front tier across a deck and down the stairs.

Toward one tier behind the lookout post the group can see two Spaniards kicking frantically at a very large spider that appears to be gorging it's self on some poor chap. The spider spews some vile greenish brown liquid into the short fat one's eyes. He screams and wipes frantically at his eyes. Seeing that their kicks have had little effect on the monstrous spider the other Spaniard grabs his squire's wrist and makes a mad lope for the stairwell.

On the tier behind that scene the stack of large wooden crates seems to erupt with some black oily liquid. It seems odd that this liquid is streaming out of the crates endlessly. And that crates make for poor containers of liquids. Plainly that isn't oil, you can see as it rises up over every surface, patches of it breaking away in random directions.

Cries of fright and duress can be heard coming from the decks below. Bufreut's voice carries over the din below.

"EVERYONE TO THE BRIDGE! WE'LL SEAL IT OFF! IT'S YOUR ONLY HOPE!"

Ah I should have been more descriptive. The spiders can and do climb up the walls. The area the group is in is a lookout nest and can see over all tiers of the top deck. The stairs to the left and right are 10 feet so treat them as difficult terrain (steep steps). The Stairs leading down are south of you. The two deathjump spiders are 30 feet in the air on the mast post. The two swarms on the lookout post are infact on top of Kel and Rendar.
