Right now I use Eclipse + Perforce (integrated and stand alone client) and Microsoft Visual Studio + stand alone perforce client.

This setup works well, but would like a svn client to download other projects. I tried some clients from the interweb and they have generally been kind of crappy. Any suggestions? I develop under win32, but probably need a client and server for FreeBSD also.

I use TortoiseSVN on Windows. In other environments I've used it's generally already installed by default as a command-line utility.

TortoiseSVN has nice Explorer icons and context-menu support, but I've had odd interactions when using it with some IDEs.

TortoiseSVN is a Good Thing. Other than that, the command-line client is, I guess, OK for occasional use. If you want to check things out directly into Eclipse, then install Subclipse into Eclipse.

At work we use TortoiseSVN. We tried Ankh for Visual Studio integration but ended up getting rid of it and just using Tortoise. I have no idea if the Eclipse plugin is any good, but I would just stick to Tortoise.

At my work we also use Tortoise. It's really the only svn client I've used, so I can't compare it to anything else, but it seems to work pretty well in general.

TortoiseSVN or command line, on Mac Versions is nice but it costs money and I'm not sure of a nice free alternative
