I am actually digging this idea a lot

my old marines are getting repainted crusades-style, my witch hunter is rad, and i get to use my cool converted guardsmen with their old school hats and leather bits and terracota armor as inquisitorial stormtroopers

gonna paint the rhino in which tac marine numero uno is mounted in white, then bleached bone accents, then little highlights with terracotta and black

    Death Cult Assassins

The problem with Death Cult Assassins is that they will absolutely cripple you in Kill Point games. In 4th edition, they were great because they were cheap, so when they inevitably died, it didn't matter because they'd already run in and ripped face. In 5th, each time a single death cultist dies, that's a kill point.

They made taking min-max squads the most desireable choice, which is why things like cramming as many 5 man las/plas tac squads into a list as you could was popular. Or te five man termie squad with dual asscans. I actually like KPs more, but it's something that doesn't work when you have codexes from previous exitions floating around.

Really tempted to start an ork army from scratch.

AOBR models are super cheap off ebay, as far as 1500 point lists go you could cram them full of killy goodness. Since a 30 man boyz squad with a PK and bosspole is only 225 points or something I was thinking of just cramming four of them in there, plus kanz and deff dred, mechboy to screen the mob, then just footslogging all over objectives.

Penitent engines are a heavy choice, not fast attack. You can't take heavy choices if you're allying witch hunters into another army.

You can't take inquisitors as a troops choice.

You can't attach librarians to a chapter master. You could take one librarian as a second HQ choice.

Your first two troop choices are illegal based on the space marines codex. Do you have the latest space marines codex?

Just to clarify, you get one special weapon if you have 5 men in your tactical squad and one heavy weapon in a 10 man squad. So in a 10 man squad its 1 special weapon and 1 heavy weapon. There are no veteran sargent upgrades, you just get a regular marine one, who has one higher point in leadership and some extra weapon options.

Also as a side point I thought you could not take HQ choices when using space marine allies as they are not in the selection list in Codex WH?

Finally, going back to gray knights, buy regular marines and paint them gray. You can get the nemisis force weapons seperately and put them on regular terminators. I think forgeworld do Psycannon troop upgrades, but I am not sure.

Oh, my bad, 30 boyz with nob, PK and bosspole is only 220 points.

6 of them is 1380 points

    That's 180 Orks.

    18 x 22 = 396 dollars, a bit steep, but

    180 orks

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH

    EDIT:

AOBR would be 20 boyz + 3 deffkoptas, 5 nobs and a warboss with a PK

Could add deff dreads for ~100 points, Mek with KFF for 85, kans for ~100, and fill the rest with boyz. Fatty green tide footslogging force with dread/deffkopta support.
