Looks like I'm moving to Miami. I'll be asking HR for neighborhood suggestions sometime next week, but I figured I'd get a head start and throw this out there.
I will be working "just north of Coconut Grove" and might be very close to a Metrorail stop.
So with that in mind and my having a young child who is not yet in school but obviously will be, what areas should I look in to living? What type of rent should I expect for a 1br? Whats the deal with the Metrorail? (General living in Miami question)?

Areas south or west would be best. One thing you have to factor in is car insurance. Some zip codes in south Florida can be a lot more expensive that others.
Here is a map of the area

Try Perrine or Coral Gables.
