How to make Let's Plays?

That's a lot of extra work (having to move my comp all over the place especially) and some cost for something I considered doing for the hell of it. I guess I'll put it on hold till I can figure this out.

i.e. don't ask for ROMs websites, or where to get warez. This is not an exhaustive list, and judgements regarding this will be made on a case by case basis. And golly yes fuckers, this does include video game hardware emulators.

For the, oh, three people who follow the Fear Effect LP, I tried using both Fraps and Camtasia to record the start of Hans' campaign, and the cutscenes are nigh unfilmable. It runs like molasses. Any good fixes?

I didn't notice an FPS modifier in Camtasia.

What's the rush in doing an LP anyway? It's worth waiting so you can get good video and audio quality.

No rush at all, but I'd be playing the game again regardless. Setting up my camera takes 5 minutes, conversion and editing is something I'm already used to. Buying accessories for a new setup and then learning new conversion and editing is about x100 the work I'd planned.

Meh, I'll see what I can find this weekend. If I can pick something up for under $20 and figure out how to have it working then I'll probably go with that. If I ever pick up a cheap used laptop that would work with the new setup then it would help with recording tourneys.

My problem with gamebridges or tuners or whatever is the inevitable amount of lag there is, either in recording or playing.

Wouldn't you split them so you'd play on the TV while recording on the computer?

I figure the next best thing I could do, after my camera, would be to find one of these gamebridge deals, and I think a place nearby has a few. If I can record what I need on my comp and then move it back to my room when I'm done and record the voice and do the editing that should be fine.

I got a free copy with one of my video cards and it works alright. I mostly just use it to check FPS while running games, but I remember recording Audiosurf games with it and it worked really well.

I wish more PC games had built in recording functions like the Quake series. It's a lot easier to deal with and much easier on the computer.

The price might be a lot to swallow at first, but I haven't come across anything better or cheaper in my search. If you're doing a video lp, you'll want fraps.
